Aya AU: meeting Cat

Dilan is hanging out near the station, waiting for Aya to get off work. Every now and then his hair makes a semi-disgruntled mrrp? noise. The reason for that is the small black cat who is not in the cat carrier at his feet.

"I don't mind." Dilan says with a shrug, "It's not even an urge anymore."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'd mind." she admitted, shifting from playing with his fingers to simply holding his hand so she could drink her coffee.

"Yelling is one of those things everyone does or doesn't." she shrugged.

"Alright." he says, twisting around in that inhuman way of his to kiss her cheek, then going back to his coffee.

And that made her almost choke on her coffee. Sometimes the way he moved...well, it was surprising, or shocking...or utterly distracting. This would be why the coffee mug was hastily set down so she didn't spill "Jesus...warn a girl..." she laughed.

Well, laughed between coughing.

"Spines shouldn't do that!"

"Human spines shouldn't do that." Dilan counters, "My spine should."

"Yeah yeah yeah" she mock grumped "It's distracting" shame on him. Really!

That didn't mean she didn't sit up enough to kiss his cheek before she started dangling straw wrappers for Cat.

Dilan grins, "That means I get a little of the attention showered on Cat." he points out.

Cat goes nuts for the wrappers, the bell on her collar jingling cheerfully.

...Aya was probably going to leave a 'straw replacement' tip on the table. Yep. Paper wrappers just didn't hold up for more than a few pounces.

At his comment though she arched a eyebrow and grinned "Yes dear, would you like a wrapper too?" she teased, holding one up for him.

"Nah. It's adorable to watch you playing with her."

She wrinkled her nose at the comment, but refrained from complaining. Fighting the word 'adorable' had never gotten her anywhere, ever. Instead she sacrificed Dilan's wrapper to Cat, amused at the stunts she pulled to get at the things.

"I promise you'll have my undivided attention when we're swimming?" she chuckled. There wouldn't be a Cat after all!

"Horrified stares at the wet-cat smell." he predicts, mock glumly.

[mitochondriaaya]

She arched an eyebrow up at him, then tugged one of his dreadlocks gently wit her free hand "Not likely to be horrified." she noted. "Because wet-cat smell or no, you'll be a wet Dilan. I'm sure that's far more note worthy."

He grins and lets his head fall forward with her tug, "Yay!" he gives Pierce's arm-pump at that.


"Did I do it right?"

Okay, Dilan imitating Pierce? That was worth cracking up over. "I think...there's more triumphant whoo-hoo-ing?" she offered at last. "But a good try? I'll give you a six out of ten?"

He leans back, smug at getting her to crack up.

When she could stop laughing, she cuddled a bit more firmly against his arm...all the better to use the dread still in her hand as a dangle toy.

Yep. Boyfriend abuse.

Cat loves his dreads. She jumps and bounces at them with happy mrrrps. Dilan wraps his arms around Aya's waist and grins.

The dreads held up a lot better than the myriad straw wrappers! Ah, but what would the kitty do when there were two dangled, bouncing dreads? She had two hands after all...

...for the first time in her life Aya may have utterly forgotten her coffee.

Dilan laughs softly and shakes his whole head, sending Cat into a spasm of play.

With Aya as an unwitting, but entirely willing, springboard. "God, I wish I hadn't been allergic to cats as a kid..." she sighed, watching the mostly-dangling Cat.

"Would have been nice." she admitted, weaving her hand through Dilan's hair to tease the kitty.

He glances at her and frowns a little, "You were? Huh."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Mmmhmmm" she nodded, still rather focused on poking Cat without getting her fingers caught by kitty paws. "Very. My sister and I both. The pet store over reacted and sent us out in an ambulance...we weren't dying, but hey, couldn't blame them. Meant we didn't get kittens for our birthday."

"That's too bad." Dilan says, and he means it, "You'd be a great cat owner."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Mmmm, no time now." she admitted sadly. "I don't like the idea of leaving a pet, any pet, alone as often as I have to be out." she actually had thought that through, a while back.

"Besides, I'd get terminally distracted by a kitty." she grinned, sliding from her seat and into Dilan;s lap to chase Cat through the dreads.

"You may borrow my Cat, then, when you need a kitty fix." says the man providing the toy. "She wouldn't mind at all." his arms wrap around her waist and he kisses her neck.
