Terren Apples - Kiddie AU

Braig was out of the room when Dilan peeked back in, finally. He grabbed the bag, which over the course of packing had taken on capital letters; The Bag. It had the G-strings with their fake fig leaves, the apples, Aya's clear bra, and the container that held one comfortably dozing snake.

Dilan had checked, it was fine to keep the snake curled up in there for the couple of hours it had taken...and he'd checked on it every time they stopped. Still a very large snake. Very large. He poked the remaining lump in the bed, "Aya! He's out!"

He dropped her share of stuff on the bed and started stripping with absolutely no regard for modesty. Not that he'd ever had any. The usual array of noises that occurred after every waxing were made, along with giggles. (Manly giggles.)

"Braig got bitten, and there was a lot of screaming." Aya nodded, petting Dilan's hair. "A lot of screaming." Bad times all around really.

"Well, yeah, there's that but I'm not in the habit of getting broken." Pierce shrugged.

"Neither am I." Dilan said, with a sigh, "But I can't take most headache meds, either. Every one of my headaches has to be suffered through, 'cause the paracetamol doesn't do jack."

Braig added, "And we hate it."

"Yep, a lot. We're considering chloroform." Aya noted, using one of Dilan's dreads to tickle his nose.

Pierce chuckled, amused. "Yeah, well, you follow Braig around so you probably court getting broken more than I do."

"There's that, too." Dilan agreed, wrinkling his nose and huffing at Aya. Without actually moving.

"Heeeyyyyyyy..." but Braig laughed even as he said it.

Tickle tickle tickle! Hah! What? She didn't have a dangle toy handy...

"Dude, you're like a walking hazard zone!" Pierce waved at his friend up on the bed and grinned. "I'm just amazed you are actually, like twenty-four."

"Aya! Stoppit!" Dilan finally batted at her, "You're gonna get my dreads greasy!"

Braig rolled his eyes at Pierce, "I'm not that bad!"

Aya grinned and dropped the dread. "Fine, I'll dangle something else." Hmmm, hah! Hair scrunchy!

Pierce snorted and pointed at each person in turn. "She gets in fights for fun, but there are rules. He gets in fights for fun and control, but there are rules. You get into fights for fun in a no-holds barred dive into a psycho mosh pit kinda way with no rules and usually police."

Dilan did his best to ignore it. He was neither drunk, nor stoned, and batting at things wasn't as interesting without alcohol, catnip, or pot. "I don't get in fights on purpose, Pierce. I don't even get to do sparring, too likely I'll accidentally break someone."

"...There are rules." Braig finally said, "Uncle Nevada made damn sure I had rules."

"Okay, Dilan gets exhibition," Pierce shrugged. "And you, dude, do the other people you fight know those rules?! Great you've got rules, but I'm saying that the world isn't adhering to the tap out rule and stuff!"

Aya snorted, shot the hair scrunching across the room at Braig, and nibbled at her pizza again.

Dilan finally rolled off Aya's thigh to go back to his own pizza, since the bones were gone.

"Well, like. If they're experienced?"

Aya took that as her cue to flop over sideways onto Dilan's knee. It was a thing! It happened! Gravity, well, sucked.

"Dude...my point still stands. You kinda like, court injury and laugh like a maniac when you do it!"

Dilan stroked her hair with the hand which hasn't been touching pizza (he always kept one clean).

"Yeah, well. It's...a thing. It's a thing."

"Thing things are cool. I still get to be shocked you're not as broken as you you could be!" Pierce grinned and toasted Braig with his two liter. "In that way where my combat is all cyber combat man. Fear me in virtual pac-man!"

"Uncle Nevada taught me well. He was damn good to me."

"To all of us." Dilan agreed, just as quietly, "To all of us."

"We miss him," Aya added softly. He was only three, no, four years gone? It still hurt. It probably always would.

"Sorry I never met him." Pierce admitted.

"He helped me learn to hunt. Heh." Dilan grinned, "He critiqued my adulthood rite and made me go do it again."

"Taught me a lot about control."

"Control," Aya echoed quietly. "And it being okay to be angry. Being a person who told me it's okay to be me just for...me." Not because was friends with the sons. Because that had been a lot of her earlier mental issues with Elcy and Yinsi. Sure, her self esteem wasn't great now but she never realized how very bad it was back then. "He was...multi-talented. And now Braig should tell the story about learning how to drive from Nevada." Because at least Aya had known what to expect when her turn came!

Pierce blinked. It was like...a support group. "I'd love to hear it considering how Braig drives."

"Hey! I'm a damn good driver!" He was, too. He obeyed the laws, even speeding laws, used his turn-signals, paid near-psychotic amounts of attention to posted warnings...he was probably one of the safest drivers on the road, without being at all timid.

"Trying to teach me to drive was funnier." Dilan said with a grimace, "I can't do it. Everything that moves makes me want to look at it, and I almost crashed every car we put me in...Nevada threatened to put rollers on the cars so that we'd just bounce around inside. Eventually, though, it was decided that I was just too...well, Katzu. I'll never learn."

"Yes, precisely!" Pierce crowed. "You drive like a responsible adult which is so unlike you. So, I figure something traumatic must have happened in a car at some point!" He was still grinning when he shifted his attention to Dilan.

"Oh, share! SHARE!" Tell him about driving into a duck pond or something!

"Oh. Uncle Nevada threatened to kill me if I ever dinged the paint on his Jeep. Since I didn't, and learned really fucking well, he taught me offensive driving."

Dilan snorted, "Unlike Braig, there, I managed to crash so many cars that it's only the fact that mom and dad are stupid rich that I even learned enough to be able to identify the different gears in a stick shift."

"After the first one," Braig said, "They started buying the junkers that were going for, like, a hundred bucks a pop."

"The longest I managed to keep driving before crashing was fifteen minutes."

"Dude, like driving the president kind of driving?" Because that made slightly more sense than screaming obscenities while driving.

And...

"Duuuude. Did they start installing five point harnesses in them?"

"Yup." Braig said, "I can drive in damn near any circumstances. It's just important to me to keep doing it right all the time."

Dilan laughed, "First thing Uncle Nevada did after I wrecked the first one."

"If I ever get married I elect Braig drive my wife to the hospital if we have kids." Because, well, WHY NOT MAKE USE OF THAT SKILL SET? "And that Dilan doesn't."

"Works for me." and "No way in hell!" came out at the exact same time. "I don't drive anywhere, ever, under any circumstances!"

Pierce grinned, clapped both boys on a shoulder after some wiggling, and then set the remains of his pizza aside. "Cool."

Aya snorted. "Dork."
