Aya AU

The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

"An exception to the 'There should be a logical reason to be carried' rule." she stuck her tongue out at him. "And I think you have to have more than one date with a person to have 'ex's'. That hasn't happened recently..." she mused cheerfully.

"Complete wusses." Dilan says firmly.

"Hey, it's New York." she teased, finally eeling sideways to lean against his side and eye the path "Quantity over quality."

"And most non-wuss types don't really like dating a girl who can put them into the mats half the time. It's a delicate thing, ego..."

"Meh." Dilan says, "I'm not a wuss, and I don't care."

"Duly noted. And proven by the whole 'multiple dates' thing." she laughed.

"So very true." Dilan agrees, "And more to come, I hope."

"What, I invite you to my home and you're still just hoping for further dates?" she laughed. "I really don't think you have anything to fear."

...

"Except maybe Ben."

"Shameless doesn't mean that I'm full of myself." Dilan says cheerfully, "I'm not big on assuming, especially when you remember that friends is also a perfectly acceptable way to go."

"Hmmm, friends still make dates to hang out. Especially when screwed up schedules are involved." she countered reasonably.

"Friends make plans and arrangements." Dilan says, "The majority of people accept the vernacular date as carrying connotations of romantic interest."

"I'll take your word on the majority vote." she chuckled. "Would you be reassured if I changed my statement to 'As far as I can tell you have no reason to worry yet'?"

"Yes, yes I would." he says, grinning, "But I'm still going to be grateful."

"Well, then I'll be content." she sighed, reaching over to pat his arm. "Wouldn't want to start worrying you just yet." she teased.

"That's a bonus!" Dilan chirps at her, leaning over for a kiss.

Leaning over was good. She was going to have start carrying a step stool if this became a common occurrence...

...and she was kinda hoping it would. Camping stores sold folding step stools right?

Dilan grins when the kiss is done and says, "Oh, hey, twenty minutes until it closes. But we have to put our shoes back on. So. Snakes or skates?"

"Snakes" she answered immediately. "No offense to the skates of course.." she chuckled. Snakes were just inherently more interesting!

"Snakes it is!" he finds a bench and starts switching out shoes, although there are big, blue eyes directed at her, "So. How 'bout that lemonade?"

She looked up from her laces and really...those eyes just weren't fair. Not fair at all! Only years of training let her grin and twitch one of his dread teasingly "Once we get inside? I'd hate for you to zone out again and have them close on us..."

"Yes, Aya." Dilan agrees, wiggling his feet in his boots and lounging casually while she finishes.

"You realize you could have just fished the thermos out of the bag if you really want to..." she pointed out, settling her own boots back on. Damn...it made her shorter.

"Well, yeah, but it's more fun to make eyes at you." Dilan is also shorter out of the skates. By about the same amount, even. He wraps his arm around her waist, "In general, now that I think about it."

...she was doomed. She wouldn't always have a handy excuse to help her say no. "You are going to seriously push my ability to deny you things." she sighed. Not fair? Well. She could do the same...it just never really occurred to her.

It was far easier to wrap her arm around his in turn and sway slightly, playfully, with the steps when they weren't in skates. Yes, far easier.

His grin gets bigger, "Why would you want to deny me? I'm cute!"

"Cute isn't everything." she chuckled, looking up at him "Besides, it's fun to see how people deal with 'No' upon occasion."
