Aya AU

The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

Strawberries. Well, that was noted. Yep, noted even as she raised an eyebrow at the word 'sweetheart'. She didn't need comment on that did she? "Mainly? I cook for the week ahead. Sometimes I do puzzles between cook times, and I usually have the radio going the entire time?" she offered with a sigh.

"As for that make believe era when I had 'time'? That...was a very long time ago, Dilan." she did miss all kinds of little things...but they were...yeah. "Years. Middle school actually. I'm pretty sure I don't miss the things I did then."

Dilan thinks about that for a while, what did he enjoy in middle school? Then he grins at her, "Want to go roller skating?"

She blinked at him a moment, then finally ended up laughing" Well, I stand corrected" she admitted between giggles. "Apparently I can mi---hell!"

Just like that the laughter stopped. She fished her phone out of her pocket and shut down. "Danny."

Dilan laughs with her, but sobers up when her face shuts down and is silent while she's on the phone. He has good phone etiquette - and is actually humming under his breath to avoid hearing a conversation that he is not part of.

He wouldn't have gotten much even if he was listening in. A name. Assurances that she'd only eaten two or three bites of food...

At one point she actually covered the phone and glanced at him "Dilan, did you drive to the precinct?" if he did, and she could shanghai him she'd cut twenty minutes off her arrival time. Otherwise...

"I can't drive." Dilan admits, "But I'll call a cab while you finish your call."

He pulls his PDA close again and calls a cab for her. "Give me a call when you've got some free time and we'll go skating." Then he lifts a hand to get her sandwich boxed up.

She ended her call with a time, then finished what was left of her coffee before she glanced at Dilan again "I could have gotten back to the precinct, Dilan. A cab wasn't necessary." she pointed out simply.

And the precinct had her gun.

She'd deal though.

Aya couldn't really manage a smile now, but her expression did lighten a bit. "But...thank you. I would enjoy skating. It may be awhile, but I'll call."

"This way you don't have to waste breath you might need when you get there." Dilan says with a shrug, "And the cabs are just around the corner. And you can catch a ride back with your partner and talk about whatever happened - I'm so not asking - after."

"Occasionally you may over-think things." she pointed out drolly. She wasn't going to argue, not when she was most, mentally, at the scene already...but...

"But you're good people Dilan."

"Scientist, Aya. Overthinking things is what I get the obscene amounts of money for." Dilan points out as he polishes off his sandwich, "Call me when you next have some free time and I'll scout out where we can roller skate without getting in people's ways or breaking the law."

"Point taken" Okay, she'd been wrong about that ability to smile. Maybe only briefly, but real, as she scooped up her box and headed for the door.

"Skating it is." and Danny hadn't been necessary to get that promise. Her partner would be in shock. Or really, really worried.
