Day two: A bunch of silk flowers. With a note to call him.
Day three: A box of mid-range chocolates.
Day four: A pair of silly, but cheap, earrings.
Day five: An individual creme brulee.
Day six: Tickets to a rock-climbing extravaganza with a hopeful smiley-face.

"Unfortunately so." he says with a sigh, "I've got a volunteer thing I do which I would be a lot more enthused about if it didn't mean giving up time with you." polite little leer, there, before he follows it up with "Bunch of sixth graders coming in and poking around some of the labs, then getting some metaphysics practical demonstrations."

"I'm more than happy to bow out in favor of kids." She grinned and pulled her elbows off the table as the waitress brought the appetizers. "Be enthused, it's cute." and as hard as it was to picture Braig surrounded by munchkins, well, he was the man who installed a slide in a climb zone.

He grins back and sits up to eat. "I like kids...as long as they're able to, like, run. Even Dilan was kind of boring until he could do things on his own. He was precocious, though."

"Kids are fun." she agreed happily "We don't get groups touring through the hospital, but med students kind of make up for it." kind of, in that 'they're cute and lost' kind of way.

"So you got to chase baby Dilan around when he got up on his feet?"

"You don't blow things up nearly as often." Braig points out, then he shakes his head, "Nah, he always knew he was mine. He, like, followed me around from the time that he could crawl."

"No, but we get to poke people. That can be interesting too!" she defended laughingly. "Ah, so he chased you. That had to lead to some interesting things..." like early muscle development and a baby tackling stairs and such to keep up with the older boy.

There are reasons Dilan is scary in shape, yes. "Yup. He was an awesome baby."

...not exactly scary in shape.

"Fair enough." she wasn't exactly sure what else she was suppose to say to that.

Braig just grins at her.

Well, she could grin back!

And play fight over things to dip fried food in!

Oh, he's good at this game! Also the steal-from-your-date's-plate game.

Aya was skilled at the stealing-food-back-before-it-was-licked game! It was easier with chopsticks (there were reasons her parents had starting insisting the girls use forks), but she could manage!

Because, of course, they weren't dishing from communal plates anyway.

Food tastes better if it's stolen from someone else's plate. Science fact!

Well, yes, that's why it was convenient to have two hands! One to reclaim food, the other to steal!

They are well matched. Braig eventually leans over and kisses her.

They might get around to actually eating eventually?

After the kissing maybe. She was slightly less shocked this time around than last, but he did manage to win by default because she stopped playing with food in order to cup his face.

He leans his cheek into her hand, closing his eye and smiling into the kiss. Yeah. He's sexy. He's badass. He's awesome.

Yeah yeah yeah, she just happened to like kissing. it was was a skill she'd invested a bit of time in honing. It helped that he was sexy and a good climber, but not nearly as much as the fact that he was open to being kissed by her.

As far as kisses went, it wasn't carnal. No, it remained a gentle, exploring kiss...but she smiled too before leaning back.

Carnal kisses aren't for public. He's enthusiastic, not crass. Usually. He trails his fingers through her hair before leaning back with a satisfied smile and...stealing something from her plate and popping it in his mouth.

"You are an awesome kisser, babe."

Occasionally carnal kisses were fun in public. Once in a while.

She swatted at his hand but settled back to her own plate, at least for now. "Thank you for the opportunity." she grinned at him "And it's always easier to kiss someone when they're good themselves."

"Lots of practise." He admits, leaving her in peace. For the time being. "Dilan's pretty awesome too, but we learned from the same girls."

"Maya and I made a dedicated study of it," with charts and comparative notes in highschool. "She's better, more practical exams." it amused her no end to make kissing sound like a school subject.

Braig laughs and says, "Then I hope she's comfortable enough with me to initiate at some point." Because he took Dilan's warning to heart and hasn't touched Maya yet.

"I'll relay the message. With luck she'll adapt sooner rather than later." because she liked when her sister dated and could touch her dates. It was good for Maya.

Braig shakes his head, "Nah, don't do that. Let her adapt at her own time, and not, like, feel pressured or anything dumb like that."
