Aya and Dilan had been dating for a bit over a month. During that time, Braig quietly put his affairs in order, so to speak.

Oh, not in the wills and death kind of way, but rather in the way that he broke up with the girlfriends as Dilan did (which raised no eyebrows, that was the way it had always been after all), and in the way that he started, and abandoned, a million different ways to approach the other two. Aya first, he knew that much. Dilan was, after all, polyamourous and more likely to follow the other two just because that was what he'd always done. Aya - Aya was monogamous and it could bring this whole house of cards tumbling down.

A house of cards that Braig had spent the majority of his life building, step by step and moment by moment. He'd known what he wanted since he was eleven years old, from the time that Aya shrieked Lions! in her little girl's voice, and Dilan paffed into the dust behind her.

It just took another twenty years for the two of them to start getting the idea...but...they might not want him.

Oh, Fire and Ice, they might not want him.

That sound? That ringing silence? That would be Aya staring at the phone. Finally though, finally..."It doesn't bother you. Just like that? You avoid me for weeks, but Braig is okay?" She was going to strangle him too. A nice, neat, double strangling. Yep. Her voice had even gone all calm and relaxed even!

Dilan said, softly, "Well. Yeah. For one thing, after breaking the block about you it's easier to do so about Braig. For another, he's never really...been brotherly towards me. Best friends, yes, but. More possessive. And I've dated people with him long enough that it'd be weird if I hadn't thought about it before."

[mitochondriaaya]

Stran. Gle. Ing.

After the whimpering.

"I don't know how to do this Dilan. I've tried. I have. What do I do now?!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"You tell me if you want to try with Braig." Dilan says quietly, "If you do, we will. If you don't, we won't. I'm with you, Aya."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I don't think like you two." She didn't. It was hard, and it was odd, but she couldn't. She wanted him to say something like He'd still love her even if they tried and failed. That was terrible thing to ask though, so she wouldn't. "I'll try though. Elsy says I should watch you two kissing."

[sliceitwithwind]

"I know you don't. I don't love you because we're the same, sweetie, I love you because you're you. I wouldn't mind kissing in front of you, as long as it didn't bother you."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I don't know if it will bother me." TO be brutally honest? "I think that's part of the kissing test. I just don't know. Braig was...is...always there, he's part of us, but I don't know."

Oh, and he was in VEGAS.

"I will love you no matter what happens." He informed her seriously, "I'll come home tonight, okay? I'll come home, I'll hold you."

[mitochondriaaya]

"But Braig will be alone." If it didn't work. Very alone. GAHHHHHHHH.

"Thank you. Bill me for the thingy? The thingy that broke? I"m going to drink more Chambord now and decide if I should call Braig."

"You can't afford the 'thingy'." Dilan said dryly, "I'll be home in a couple of hours."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I could try on a payment plan." And she would try if he let her. "Or I could forward the bill to Braig." Most of the bill anyway, when she paid what she could.

"I'm staying with Elsy and Yinsi tonight. I'm not sure I can walk home." Just so he went to the right Home?

"I'll bill Braig." Dilan said simply, "I'll be there. I love you."

[mitochondriaaya]

"...that's cheating." Or at least bypassing her ability to pay at least some of it. "I'll call and tell him. Love you too Dilan. I'm sorry." Because apologizing just seemed to be the right thing to do right now.

"See you soon." And time to call Braig. Goodie. How did she Cliff's notes this one?

"Shh. Don't apologise." Dilan hung up and stared at a wall for a moment before finding someone to drive him home.

[mitochondriaaya]

Staring at the wall was a shared activity! There were enough walls to share! And Chambord was nice to look at too.

Then, well, she was dialing Braig. Braig who was in Vegas. Braig who might not hear his ringer over the din in a casino and she wasn't sure if she was wishing for that outcome or no.

"Yo." Braig sounded like...Braig. Trashed, or worse. Yup.

Pierce was in the background screaming something about teleportation in a fetching soprano.

Trashed or worse was never a good way to hear Braig really. It made her wince. "Braig...Pierce is okay right? He needs a drink, you tok him to Vegas..." Rambly worry!

"And I talked with Dilan and Elsy and YinsiandtheysaidweshouldtryandIagreeweshouldtrythingsandIhavepamphletsandyouneedtostopwithwhateverdrinkyouhavenowandnotgetsotrashedokay?" Best to get it all out in a rush maybe? He was going to ask her repeat it. In chunks. She just knew it.

"...Get Pierce a drink and what?" He said slowly, with a tone of utter bafflement.

[mitochondriaaya]

Deep breath. Deep breath. "You need to stop drinking now. I worry when you drink too much." Because he was an idiot with alcohol. "We both worry." A lot.

"I talked with Dilan. He is coming here after work. We agreed to try. You mom gave me pamphlets."

"...My mom? Is awesome. D' you want me to come home? I can leave Pierce the credit cards."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Your mom is terrifying upon occasion. And she wants grandbabies. Every words she says from now on really means that." Just so he knew. Just so he knew.

"I...don't know? I'm on the couch at Elsy's, should you do anything when you're trashed? What about landing in walls?!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"(insert drunken technomagibabble here). I'll be home as soon as I've got Pierce pulled out of the pile of models."

"I'M GOOD! I'M GOOD!"

[mitochondriaaya]

"I don't think he'd thank you for..." Yep, probably too late if Braig started moving the moment he started the technomagibabble. If she were a bright girl she'd have recorded the conversation with Braig so she'd have some idea what he was talking about later. He'd remember his NDA later after all.

"And I'll try Braig. I don't know if I'm going to freak out. And I still want to strangle you..." Because babbling at the phone was still better than waiting silently while Braig wiggled through super models.

"...Dude, that's your wallet." said the Pierce, and then...there was a flash of dark, and Braig was leaning against the wall of the kitchen in a weird little spot that was awkward for anyone to actually stand in, between the 'fridge and the pantry.

She clicked her phone shut since Braig's had probably come with him. She'd call Pierce later when he wasn't busy. Maybe. If she wasn't involved in a murder suicide before then!

Then she was...looking at Braig. She wasn't entirely certain she could stand up long enough to make it over to him...but she was making a good try at it anyway because she had to be sure he was alright! And, well, she'd figure out what to do if he was stuck in the wall in that corner...once she was sure he wasn't? IT MADE SENSE TO HER!
