Kiddie AU - Aya's living on the couch.

"She's WHAT?!" Elcy, it turned out, could roar. Much like a lion...only louder, if her son was to be believed, "Braig! Why didn't you tell me this earlier? We have spare rooms!"

"Mom...I..."

"We," Dilan broke in, "we didn't think..."

"I am very disappointed in the two of you. You are going to march right over there, young man," that was with a pointed finger at her son, "and grab that poor girl's things and bring them back here. You," at Dilan, "are going to get the larger of the spare rooms set up for her. I am going to go shopping. What's Aya's favourite colour?"

"Sky blue." said Braig, already grabbing his coat and heading out. He did not, nobody argued with his mom when she was that angry.

"Sky blue. Fine. Dilan, call Yinsi and let him know Aya is moving in with us."

"...Yes'm." Dilan mumbled, the last thing Braig heard before the door closed.

It didn't take long for him to get over to Aya's house...Aya's...old...house. "Hey! Ayay! You here?"

"Huh." Braig's mom was officially weird. Weird in a good way but still weird. "She didn't need to an stuff." She was okay with walls, and she didn't think she'd be staying in here much, which made it almost a waste right?

"What am I suppose to say?"

"You don't have to say anything." Braig said, "She just wants it to be nice for you. Let me know if you want help with anything, otherwise I'm just going to sit here and read."

Aya pulled open the closet and set her armor and sword in the big empty space before turning around to look at her boxes. "I can do it, I think, mostly. Just...yeah, you can read." She pulled one of the boxes open and looked at the first thing.

Pants.

Okay, pants.

She had an obvious closet vs. drawer debate then finally set them in the bottom drawer of the dresser. In fact, most of her clothing was going in that drawer. She...didn't have a lot. "Ummm, what do I stick in the rest?"

Braig looked up from his book and said, "Nothing for now, I guess. If you get other things you can fill them then? Is there any new clothing that you think you're going to need? Do you have enough warm clothing?"

"Yeah, I think so? Its' fine!" She nodded, pulling a very rumbled coat out of the bottom of the box, then looking up in the closet. Way up. "Okay, I do need help I think."

"Okay." Braig came over, "Do you want me to hold you up, or just do it for you?" He'll do it either way she wants, honestly. He ruffled her hair again.

"If you do it I can see if I have my dresses in the next box? That way I can just pass them to you!" She did own two dresses. Little silk kimonos actually. And one little sun dress that had a divided skirt for playing in. She called that an almost dress.

"Momma's dresses stayed right? My dad needs those."

"Okay." Braig took the coat from her and hung it up, "Yeah, we only took your things."

"Okay, people get confused sometimes because momma said we were suppose to have them when we grew up but I'm not grown up yet." Not that Braig knew any of that really, it was just what happened the first time someone else had helped them pack.

That was it for clothing!

Braig turned around and gave her a hug, "When you're grown-up I'll make sure you get them." he promised quietly, "But as long as you think your dad needs them I'll make sure that they're there for him."

She blinked, then hugged him back. "Okay! Thank you!"

After another squeeze he stood up and held her hand, "And you like where the posters are? We can move them if you want."

She swung their held hands and smiled. "No, they're okay? I think? We were those moogles on Halloween!"

"Yes, we were." Braig agreed, "Now lets go down and see if Dilan'll let us help set the table, okay?"

"Okay!" She grinned and dashed for the door, dragging him with her as a matter of course. Yes, she was learning drag etiquette from the boys! "He'll say yes right? He's gotta help cook!"

"Hope so! It's our job to help make sure he doesn't over-work himself." Braig tried to keep things clear for Aya, and she really did seem like the kind of little girl who liked having jobs.

He grinned as he was dragged.

Well, yes, she was here she was going to be useful! She just also knew Dilan got more messed up than she did if he couldn't do something. The stairs were fun, dragging someone with much longer legs than her! Then it was the wild careen into the kitchen and "Can we help?!"

Elcy turned to smile at the two, "Sure, Aya. Why don't you get the tableware out for Braig to set the table."

Dilan was still cutting things up, at this point he was making carrot slices in the shapes of little animals to add to the salad.

"I can do that!" Aya chirped happily, finally dropping Braig's hand so she could dig in a drawer. "Are those bunnies?"

"Uh huh. And turtles." Dilan said mildly, "Mom said I could do fun things."

Braig hovered around between the two of them until Aya was passing him things, then set the table. "Looks good, Dilan."

"Cool! Can you do moogles?" She asked, poking one of the finished pieces but not eating it. She knew better! And there were forks, and knives, and spoons and napkins and...what else for Braig? Plates were up high as were the cups.

"Probably." he said slowly, "The bobbles'll be hard." but he bent his knife to the task, trying to do little carrot Moogles."

Braig patted her head and got the things that were up high, "I got it, Aya. Napkins?"

"Cause you're awesome!" Aya chirped, probably to both of them. For moogles AND plates! "I can get napkins!" And she could even fold them while she waited.

They wanted baby origami napkins right?

Dilan was still cutting things when the napkins were folded, and completely intent on what he was doing.

Braig, however, said; "I didn't know you did origami, Aya. You should teach me sometime."

"I only do some." She shrugged. "I know a little and I forgot some." She offered the crane to Braig to set beside a plate. "I can do cranes, hats, and sometimes frogs."
