HALO AU
The briefing room for talking to Spartans was never filled. It didn't take that many, after all, to do...whatever needed to be done. The two scientists at the front, well. They looked like they had at least some field experience. One of them was scarred up and missing an eye, the other one was big enough to be a Spartan, but lacked that...something that marked Katzu Spartans. He was, in so much as one could be, just Katzu. He did, however, show markings of peripheral nerve damage...signs of an attempt at making him a Spartan that failed.
Neither of them moved like paper-pushers, though. They moved like ODST, highly trained but not quite at that level. The taller one exhibited obvious signs of Spartan drug failure, but didn't appear to let that phase him. The smaller one had indications, but nothing as dramatic.

"GOT IT!" Nevada crowed happily over the radio. "Dealing with your escort now, keep your heads down." There was going to be shrapnel. Lots of it.

"And warn them we've got a captured banshee!"

Remarkable for it's silence, space. She rather liked it. It wasn't any easier to maneuver, harder without compensator shields in fact, but inertia and luck had them drifting toward a friendly bay. Nevada was still keeping flak off their tail and...ah, there were the ship guns, sputtering into life to help her partner.
"Hope you enjoyed the in flight movie, the fasten seatbelt sign is on and...this'll be rough."

Netting, extinguishers, then sad, pained coughing. "Ouch. We all alive back there guys?"

"...melted a contact plate." Nevada noted from the outside. "And the general crew suggests we get our cargo to med bay."
"I'll slap you later Nevada." Melting armor was BAD.
no subject
"Got it." Dilan agreed.

"You'd make me lift in my condition?" Nevada teased.
"Yes, for being an idiot. Get your end."
"Pushy, partner." Nevada snagged his end of the stretcher and grinned, a little giddy with post-battle nerves to be honest. "I know the way to med-bay, c'mon. No need to distract anyone here."

That wasn't good.
Nevada glanced around the metal hallways they were in then shook his head, "Brace yourselves." Kind of a lame warning for the feel of the ship lurching under them.

Aya started ahead to go procure a pod or two and...came back within moments. "Drop a deck down. This hallways is closed off." By vacuum seal doors even. Something had punched the hull.

Braig nodded, "Where do we go? We're right behind you."

Nevada brought up the rear, swearing softly upon occasion as the stretcher jammed in the awkward tunnels. Hopefully it was softly enough to keep the covenant on board from swarming the tunnels!

"Halsey, samples, cats," Nevada sighed, listing the priorities. "It'll be tight in there but the pods home in on friendlies."
no subject
"Yeah, thanks." Braig agreed seriously.
no subject
"And you two go as a set, stuffing Braig in isn't an option," Nevada pointed out. "Without the doctor and the sled we can all find other pods at a faster pace. Get them settled in!"
no subject
"Okay. Lets go."

"Won't be easy, this rig is taking a beating," Aya admitted. "We may need to snag an actual ride again."
