Aya AU: meeting Cat

Dilan is hanging out near the station, waiting for Aya to get off work. Every now and then his hair makes a semi-disgruntled mrrp? noise. The reason for that is the small black cat who is not in the cat carrier at his feet.

"New York probably." she admitted with a shrug "I know most the nooks and crannies in Manhattan. Less chance of both of us being in a running chase though..." she pushed off the wall to head his way.

"Yeah, and I am not a native." he admits, "Nor a cop. We could just race?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"If it ever seems like a good idea..." she agreed easily. She liked running so it seemed like a fun time to her!

"And I'm glad you're not a cop." she teased, gliding up to the wall next to him "It makes dating you so much simpler!"

"Babe, I'd make as bad a cop as you would a scientist. Totally the wrong temperament." Dilan points out, "I'd be all, Dude. Dude, stop. Come on, man, don't make me chase you. Awww." The awww is done in the moan of slackers everywhere.

He's not a slacker.

It just amuses him to act it.

She actually giggled and pushed off the wall to drift on her back. "No you wouldn't. They break you of that before they put you on the beat." she pointed out.

"I might do okay if I got to stay out in the field..." she mused after a moment. "Tracking down something obscure, discovering new slime? Sure. Lock me in a lab and I'd really go nuts."

If she could get over the whole 'needing to help people' thing any way.

"Hah. You think I'd make it to the beat?" Dilan says, laughing softly at her, "And I'm all about the labwork. You do not want an obsessive compulsive on a fieldtrip of more than about a week. Trust me."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Well, if you really had to." she allowed. She figured most people could adapt, for a time, to any job they found necessary. She didn't think he'd last long though. "And yeah, I'd go nuts in your lab. Easily."

She tilted her head in the water and flicked a kick's worth of water at him "What about non-working trips? Can you last longer than a work then?"

"Depends." Dilan says honestly, "I need to make muffins in the morning. More than a week without an oven, and I lose it a little."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Duly noted. If I ever feel the need to go crawling off into the wild I'll only invite you for limited intervals." she teased.

[sliceitwithwind]

"Or pack a dutch oven." Dilan agrees, "I am quite capable of making muffins in a dutch oven."

[mitochondriaaya]

"That amuses me." she admitted. She didn't own a dutch oven, she was good at adapting to 'over a fire' cooking. But it was still incredibly amusing to contemplate.

She didn't splash him again, just used a a foot on his hip to push further out since she'd drifted a little too far to use the wall.

Dilan snickers and then gets moving again, "Hey, I know my issues and I cope."

[mitochondriaaya]

She did a few lazy backstrokes, then resumed floating as Dilan glided through the water. "And I can appreciate that." she chuckled. "It just seems so weird to have something as civilized as muffins while out in the wild!"

"What else do you manage in a dutch oven?"

"Anything I can manage in a regular one." Dilan says with a grin, "As long as it's not a shaped thing."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Define shaped." she countered, because as far as she knew? Muffins were shaped. She also stretched a hand out to idly latch onto his ankle as he passed, just to see if she could hitch a ride.

[sliceitwithwind]

"Um. Can't think of anything off the top of my head. Muffins are defined by the tins that go in the oven, see." He drags her along easily.

[mitochondriaaya]

"So, technically, you could get shaped tins if you needed them..." she pointed out, content to be pulled...until she poked his foot to see if he was ticklish.

[sliceitwithwind]

"Hmmm. Yes, I coulAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Dilan twitches a lot, and flails madly.

...in class, somewhere, someone may have mentioned not tickling people in a pool. Especially when attached to them. Aya had obviously missed that day, because she went under before she managed to release his foot.

She was laughing when she came up though.

"Don't do that!" Dilan wails when he manages to get to the edge of the pool and hang on, gasping, "I can't float!"

[mitochondriaaya]

"Sorry! Sorry!" she really did try to stop laughing? "I...wasn't expecting that. Really. Your foot was just there...it was a joke!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"I'm very ticklish." Dilan sulks. Mock sulks. Mostly. "At least feet and ribs."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I didn't know, I'm sorry. I won't do any tickling in a pool again?" she offered, drifting just out of range in case he really was upset. You kinda gave people space when you'd screwed up.

[sliceitwithwind]

"Thanks." Dilan says, "You don't have to go away, sweetheart, I just need to catch my breath."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Where else are you ticklish? Just in case." she asked, drifting forward to lean her arms up on the pool edge beside him. When she made a mistake? She got all the information she could so it didn't happen again.
