When Dilan knocks on Aya's door to pick her up he's dressed up. Which, in his case, means geta and tabi, silk hakama, and dress kimono. He looks good but very. Very not. Er.

He looks very good. He's got a small box under one arm, and waits for her to open the door.

"I am not making mac and cheese from a box and cutting hotdogs into it." Aya grimaced. "Pizza is low class enough. If we're feeling really needy we'll get cheap wine coolers?"

"That's fine. Pizza and wine coolers will do." he leans down to kiss her gently.

[mitochondriaaya]

"That's kind of reassuring." Aya laughed, then traced her fingertips up his cheek. "Let's go look official m'kay? And save Danny from what ever argument he's gotten into by now..." good limo drivers held open doors. This let Aya continue the kiss right until she slip backwards onto a seat.

Dilan follows and stretches his legs out in the limo. "I promise to beat any donation given by someone who starts trying to hold it over your head."

"I can usually sidetrack most of our generous donors. Their eligible sons on the other hand..." she ended that on an annoyed hiss. "There are disadvantages to having rushed through college. Mainly not being a well worn thirty year old detective..."

"Well, their eligible sons now have stiff competition. Competition who is not awed by their old money and inbreeding."

"I fully intend to hide behind you." she informed him simply. "And maybe ask you to dance, but definitely hiding." there were limits to her bravery!

She'd make it up to him?

"You can even stand on my feet if you want to." Dilan offers, smiling brightly.

[mitochondriaaya]

She blinked at him for a few moments then very simply asked "Why in the world would I need to stand on your feet? I'm in heels for Yates sake! I'd puncture my boyfriend and then have to explain the blood!"

"You could take them off!" he grins at her, "Or we could run off, you know. Together."

[mitochondriaaya]

"And lose the very nice height boost?" she pointed out. "And if we run off most he precinct will think we're eloping. And Danny will kill us for abandoning him to high society."

"We can take him with us?" It's a good plan!

[mitochondriaaya]

"Why are we planning to run off?" she asked "And how did we get there from standing on your feet? I still have no reason to start that either!" she giggled.

[sliceitwithwind]

"Why not, and I honestly don't remember. But it makes you laugh, so it must have been a good idea."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Duty" she supplied simply to his first question. nope, not just a word with her. "You're a strange one dear. Really strange, offering to let a girl stand on your feet and not knowing why..."

"I like having you close. That's about as close as we can get in public."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'd feel kind of like a little girl who can't dance standing on her father's feet..." she chuckled. "So not the feeling I want around you dear."

"Fair enough, my love, fair enough."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I try to be" she laughed, squeezing his knee as they pulled up outside the hotel where the ball was being held. "Ready to brave the wolves?"

"Yup. Wolves can't take me down." Dilan says, sliding out and opens the door.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Not without greater number than should be here..." she teased. She didn't mind that her dress revealed a long line of thigh as she slipped from the limo. She had nice legs, so all was well? The price one had to pay for mobility in evening clothes!

Inside was...well, a party. It was really easy to tell the cops from the guests. They all looked vaguely like they had guns to their head!

Dilan is perfectly capable of looking like he's enjoying himself. He, after all, has Aya.

Danny latched on to them the moment they made their entrance. He looked utterly uncomfortable in his 'new' suit, as opposed to his 'regular' suit. The only difference between the two was the color, but hey, it was something for him to complain about?

Aya flashed an apologetic smile at Dilan then dragged her partner off to a group of cops in the corner. They'd protect him! That chore done, she drifted back up to his side and sighed "...it's a lot bigger than last time." that was a good thing, maybe?

"Still smaller than the last thing I had to go to." he mutters, "Good day, Senator. Yes, Lt. Brea is looking lovely tonight. No, I have no intention of giving up her arm this evening, toodles."

that was the brushing off of a senator. Dilan has no shame.

"Too much bigger and the cops wouldn't show at all..." Aya covered her smile with her hand, the better not to end up laughing at the rather shocked expression on said senator's face. "I'm attached at the arm?" she noted when they were clear.
