"Huh. But he can't because people won't allow it and would stop him. So he really, really can't." IT MADE PERFECT SENSE! "There'd have to be...no guards. And no adults. And no locks and no glass and all that stuff before he even could!"

"El-el-ama. Ellllllllama. Maybe it's a name?"

"It's a kinda animal." Dilan says, laughing at the rest of them a little, "I don't know why it's got a double-L, but it's just said lah-mah."

"Then it only needs one L. That's dumb." Aya announced stiffly before climbing up on the fence a little to look at the strange and poorly named creature. "HEY LOOK IT'S FUZZY!"

"It's not English or Olia or Katzu." Braig points out, "We don't know the rules for Spanish."

"They are beasts of burden." Sannish informs the kids, as the llama comes over to taste Aya's hair.

Sure her hair looked kind of like straw but that was NOT COOL! She had a look of horrified shock for a moment, a look that quickly shifted into the eye watering, sneezing until she was too dizzy to cling to the gate allergic reaction.

Llama. Of. DOOM.

Braig grabbed her and pulled her off the fence as soon as her hands started to slip, and Dilan pushed the llama off.

Sannish swept in to pick her up and hold her farther away, "Ah, kitten, do you need an antihistamine?"

She ended up in a tight little ball, hugging her knees to her chest like she was keeping her ribs inside during each sneeze. Each and every choked, wheezing spasm seemed thicker than the last as her body went into allergy overdrive. What she managed between gasping and her nose exploding was "...no. No Doctors! M'okay..."

This was what had happened when her and Maya had gone to get kittens for their fourth birthday! There'd been an ambulance, and noise, and worry...and they hadn't been allowed kittens. Not that she wanted a llama but...

"No doctors, kitten." Sannish promises, cuddling her tightly against his chest, "Just one of Braig's allergy pills." He's been briefed on Aya and hospitals.

Dilan clung to Braig, eight year old eyes wide as saucers.

Where 'briefing' probably meant 'hysterics...just don't'. Aya was still sneezing badly, her eyes trying their damnedest to swell shut as Sannish explained about the pills. She...wasn't good with pills, she'd never had them before because her vitamins came in chewable, but she'd try!

Anything to not go to e hospital! "...yes. Please!"

"Braig, get water." Braig sprinted as though his mother were yelling, Dilan dug into Sannish's pocket without having to be told and began instructing Aya.

"You're gonna put the pill as far back in your mouth as possible, then drink the water right away. Afterwards I'll get you ice cream?" it was a question because he was looking up at Sannish to make sure that was okay.

"Ice cream would be good. Or a candy. Which would you prefer, little one?"

Aya nodded, taking the pill in her hand, little fingers clutching around it through a few more sneezes before she tried getting it on her tongue.

And it tried to go up her nose with the next sneeze.

Then hit her shoe with the next one.

She managed to get it on the back of her tongue in the next interval and swig some water. It went down slowly, and sideways, and made her say things like 'Gack' a lot, but it went down! The sneezing slowed in about ten minutes. Her eyes would take a little longer. "...popsicle?" Cause Dilan liked those too and they could all have one?

"Of course." Braig and Dilan hovered around Sannish like puppies while he headed towards the food court, "What kind would you like?"

A somewhat (but only somewhat, this is Aya and she does have weird allergies) subdued Braig said; "Blue raspberry." and an equally subdued Dilan said; "Strawberry. Blue raspberry is weird, raspberries aren't blue."

"Unless you were to bio-engineer them." Braig pointed out. Dilan went into thinking mode at that point, and his senior year science class project was born.

"I think it's food coloring." Aya confessed to the boys, whispering it from her perch in Sannish's arms. "Not real."

Right, a flavor...

"Lime! What are you getting Sannish?"

"Lime as well, little one." he said in the tone of voice of a man who called ahead earlier to make sure they froze some popsicles without any extra sweetening at all for himself and Dilan.

The young man behind the counter got the popsicles for the four of them, and Sannish let Aya down, adding; "But you are not to ride my hair again until hands and faces are washed."

"Awww, we'd be really careful!" said the girl who was already starting to drip down her popsicle stick. What? It was a hot day!

"You know, if you let your tongue stick to the popsicle too long instead of licking it'll freeze!!" This was IMPORTANT information. "Like licking the fore escape in New York after it snows!"

"Hands and face." it was very firm and grandfatherly.

Braig shoulder-bumped Aya gently, "Yeah, we know. Dilan just eats his popcicles."

Crunch, crunch is Dilan's contribution.

Aya had started watching Dilan at the first 'crunch' noise, because, honestly, it was a great noise! Most people couldn't eat popsicles like that! "Don't you get brain freeze?" she asked, distracted from her own treat until it dripped on her hand and reminded her of it's presence.

"Nu-uh." he says between crunches, "But sometimes it makes my teeth hurt. I don't care."

Sannish, without words, crunched his popsicle as well.

"Your teeth?" She grimaced, trying to see her own teeth and imagining them hurting. Would it feel like...bricks maybe? Did bricks hurt?

MORE IMPORTANTLY "My tongue is green!" It only took half a popsicle (and a good deal of dripping). "Everyone check your tongue!"

Sannish kneels down so that Aya can check his, and Braig and Dilan check each other's.

"Yup, coloured!" Dilan chirps, "Ditto."

"We're rainbow powered!" Aya giggled and bounced on her toes. "And you're tongue is green too Sannish!" And...she had no idea what kind of powers colored tongues would give them.

This obviously required thought! Or finishing her popsicle. Whichever came first!

Sannish gestures, tossing his stick into the trash, "Let us think and walk, shall we? We have penguins to look at."

Dilan chewed on his stick and offered his hand to Aya.

"Penguins!" the girl cheered, then took Dilan's hand. It was a sticky, green hand. Hopefully the restroom was on the way to the penguins? "How do they keep cold here? Doesn't the ice melt?"

Dilan's eyes immediately begin looking for a restroom, "There it is!" he drags Aya over towards a water fountain.

"I dunno." Braig says, "Maybe with a giant refrigerator? I never thought to ask."

Sannish shrugs. "I am from the desert. We do not have much in the way of penguins. The basilisk eat what few wash up on the continent."

"Where's what?!" Aya asked, craning her neck around to see the penguins. "Oh...water." Right. Washing! Washing in a water fountain was a tricky thing that involved more splashing and slurping than actual scrubbing!

"A giant freezer!" That was nifty!
