Aya and Dilan had been dating for a bit over a month. During that time, Braig quietly put his affairs in order, so to speak.

Oh, not in the wills and death kind of way, but rather in the way that he broke up with the girlfriends as Dilan did (which raised no eyebrows, that was the way it had always been after all), and in the way that he started, and abandoned, a million different ways to approach the other two. Aya first, he knew that much. Dilan was, after all, polyamourous and more likely to follow the other two just because that was what he'd always done. Aya - Aya was monogamous and it could bring this whole house of cards tumbling down.

A house of cards that Braig had spent the majority of his life building, step by step and moment by moment. He'd known what he wanted since he was eleven years old, from the time that Aya shrieked Lions! in her little girl's voice, and Dilan paffed into the dust behind her.

It just took another twenty years for the two of them to start getting the idea...but...they might not want him.

Oh, Fire and Ice, they might not want him.

"For one thing, I'd have prepared a dossier of incidents pointing towards this situation and spoken to you and Dilan together. With charts, graphs, and anecdotes."

Because Yinsi was like that.

"Which...would have made it just surreal enough to be less terrifying I think." Plus together would have been nice. Impractical from Braig's perspective, but nice, because right now she felt a great deal like she was cheating on Dilan.

"He's always been rather impetuous, hasn't he? Keep eating your ice cream."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I think it's the gorgeous genius bit shining through." She snorted and did as he said. "And how would you feel about us three being...together?"

He leaned over and ruffled her hair, "I think it would be wonderful."

"You both realize that normal, American parents would be a bit shocked and horrified at this point right?" Because sometimes she had to point out oddities! The melted ice cream made a great milkshake as long as she added more Chambord!

"Sweetie, we knew Braig wasn't going to be normal by the time he was two." Yinsi pointed out, "Adding first Dilan and then you into the mix only made us become more mentally flexible."

[mitochondriaaya]

Yes, she giggled so hard she snorted her liquor sludge! "Ow ow ow ow..." Napkins napkins napkins...

"Yes, but there's flexible, and then there's...training guides." Still giggling though!

"My beloved wife is a firm believer in pamphlets." He pointed out, "Now. What else can I do for you?"

"Yes, yes she is." What else did she need right now? "Umm, a glass, more antihistamines, and someone to check on the boys while I read until my head explodes due to blushing?"

"Fair enough." Yinsi moved to provide her with the requested items. A bit later she got a note stating that Dilan was still at work and Braig was in Las Vegas.

...Vegas.

Labs, Vegas.

WHAT?!

It was time to shuffle the pamphlets into a neat stack, pretend she wasn't as red as a tomato, and fish her own cellphone out. Hmmm, Dilan first, just to see...

...just to hear his voice. That would be a nice start.

"Hey, sweetheart." Dilan said when he picked up, "What's up?" Braig...had not called him.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hey love.." This? This was the sound of a very stressed Aya wrapping around the phone like a lifeline. "...Braig didn't call you huh?" Dumb question, on to the next one.

"He's in Vegas now. I'm not sure how he got there in...three hours."

"...Man, if he got teleportation working out of the lab his techs are going to kill him. No, should he have called me?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yes. Yes he should have called you." Because...he should have called. Or visited. SHE WAS GOING TO STRANGLE HIM. "So strangling him because he came over to scare the hell out of me then I bet he is now getting drunk...granted I'm getting drunk too, but, still..." Ramblinnnnng.

"Wait. TELEPORTING?!"

"Wait, scared you? Should I be mad at him?" Dilan choked a bit, "Um. I can't talk about that."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yes. No? I don't know." SHE DIDN'T! "Then don't. I'm going to strangle him when he gets back by PLANE." Fuming and worry now. Fuming and worry.

"He kind of...set the future of all our marital happiness on me today. All of us. Three of us."

"Wait, what?" That was the sound of something small, yet unbearably expensive breaking, "Whaaaat?"

[mitochondriaaya]

Oh crap...wincing now! "I'm sorry!" She should have known better. "Put anything else down. Now." Now now.

"He loves you. Always has. He loves me, always has. He confessed and told me us or nothing today since I"m the monogamous one. Also? Yinsi and Elsy want grandbabies." Because he wanted the Cliffs notes version right?

There was a lot of silence from Dilan's end, then a careful, "Well. What do you want?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"More Chambord." Her deepest desire right now.

"And you, because I love you. And him, because I love him, even though the idea terrifies me in that way where I'm considering disappearing for a few months to just try to think and I have no idea what to do right now and Elsy gave me pamphlets and I feel like I'm cheating on you by even reading them." TO add more summary to her summary?

More silence, "It doesn't bother me." he finally said, "You and Braig and me together. I think it'd be...good."

[mitochondriaaya]

That sound? That ringing silence? That would be Aya staring at the phone. Finally though, finally..."It doesn't bother you. Just like that? You avoid me for weeks, but Braig is okay?" She was going to strangle him too. A nice, neat, double strangling. Yep. Her voice had even gone all calm and relaxed even!

Dilan said, softly, "Well. Yeah. For one thing, after breaking the block about you it's easier to do so about Braig. For another, he's never really...been brotherly towards me. Best friends, yes, but. More possessive. And I've dated people with him long enough that it'd be weird if I hadn't thought about it before."
