Kiddie AU - Aya's living on the couch.

"She's WHAT?!" Elcy, it turned out, could roar. Much like a lion...only louder, if her son was to be believed, "Braig! Why didn't you tell me this earlier? We have spare rooms!"

"Mom...I..."

"We," Dilan broke in, "we didn't think..."

"I am very disappointed in the two of you. You are going to march right over there, young man," that was with a pointed finger at her son, "and grab that poor girl's things and bring them back here. You," at Dilan, "are going to get the larger of the spare rooms set up for her. I am going to go shopping. What's Aya's favourite colour?"

"Sky blue." said Braig, already grabbing his coat and heading out. He did not, nobody argued with his mom when she was that angry.

"Sky blue. Fine. Dilan, call Yinsi and let him know Aya is moving in with us."

"...Yes'm." Dilan mumbled, the last thing Braig heard before the door closed.

It didn't take long for him to get over to Aya's house...Aya's...old...house. "Hey! Ayay! You here?"

"My PJs!" she admitted. "We forgot those when we started doing homework instead!" And yes, if the thumping of her feet away, then up the stairs was any indication she could fetch a basket!

Coming down she sounded even more like an elephant!

When she got back Dilan was loading sky blue sheets into the machine; sky blue sheets with white octopi dancing all over them. "Check it out, monkey, Elcy knows you really well!"

"Hey, octopus!" She hadn't picked up on 'octupi' as the plural yet. "Those are cool!" She might end up wearing the sheets as a cape some day soon. "But don't you guys have like sheets and stuff?"

"Yeah, but these are yours." Dilan said in the blank voice that meant his OCD was talking, "We can use them sometimes, like we use mine or Braig's, but these are yours."

"Okay," She knew by now to just accept that voice really. "I guess. What kinda sheets are yours?" She'd never asked if the ones on the bed upstairs belonged to either of the boys!

"Mine are the purple ones with the plants on. Braig's are the black with stars on." Those sets of sheets rotated on the large bed in Braig's room. These sheets, because Braig's mother is wise, will also fit the large bed.

There is another set of them that are the size of the bed in Aya's room, but Elcy is assuming that those are just going to be for show.

"Oh! Cool, yeah, that makes sense!" Once she thought about it anyway! "Done here? Can we go poke the other bag now?"

"Yeah!" Dilan said as he closed the machine and put the step-stool away.

Braig was helping his mother in the kitchen, chopping things for whatever Elcy was making that night for supper. "Go ahead and check out your toys, kids." she said when the younger two showed up.

Dilan pulled out a high-school level chemistry kit with a grin, Braig had found a book in the bottom of the bag that was for him. Not from the toy store, but something he'd been looking for.

"Toys!" Orrrr...books and chemistry sets. There had to be a toy in there somewhere right? It was a bag from the toy store! "HAHAHA!" a little centurion armor set and a nerf sword.

FEEEEEAAAAAAAARRRR!

Toys appropriate to the kid who was getting them, man. Elcy knew her kids.

"Keep that in the closet when you're not playing with it, Aya." she said indulgently, "And no using your sword inside."

Elcy did indeed!

"Yes ma'am!" She was not swinging in a test stroke just a moment ago no! "SOLDIER COP!"

"Dragon killer." Braig pointed out, "For next time you want to play dragons with Dilan." His job was to sit around and look awesome. He usually played 'princess' while doing extra study.

"Ooooo, yeah, that's a good idea too!" Awesome dragon killer! She petted her armor cheerfully then decided if there was going to be dinner soon she should put it away.

Upstairs.

In a closet.

Or her boxes.

Something.

She'd figure it out.

"Dinner will be in a couple of hours." Elcy said, "After Yinsi gets home. Aya, why don't you figure out where you want things in your room? Also let me know if Braig and I have the posters in the right places."

"I can go up to help if she wants 'em moved, mom."

"Sounds good, baby."

"Okay," she answered, her smile faltering. Guess it was official now huh? She had to unpack, and be moved. And it was all rather quick wasn't it?

She went upstairs wit her new toys, stepped into her room and...blinked. It had changed since she'd dashed up to get her PJs. "That's not my stuff!"

"Is too." Braig said, wrapping an arm around her little shoulders, "Mom got it for you. Presents."

"Huh." Braig's mom was officially weird. Weird in a good way but still weird. "She didn't need to an stuff." She was okay with walls, and she didn't think she'd be staying in here much, which made it almost a waste right?

"What am I suppose to say?"

"You don't have to say anything." Braig said, "She just wants it to be nice for you. Let me know if you want help with anything, otherwise I'm just going to sit here and read."

Aya pulled open the closet and set her armor and sword in the big empty space before turning around to look at her boxes. "I can do it, I think, mostly. Just...yeah, you can read." She pulled one of the boxes open and looked at the first thing.

Pants.

Okay, pants.

She had an obvious closet vs. drawer debate then finally set them in the bottom drawer of the dresser. In fact, most of her clothing was going in that drawer. She...didn't have a lot. "Ummm, what do I stick in the rest?"

Braig looked up from his book and said, "Nothing for now, I guess. If you get other things you can fill them then? Is there any new clothing that you think you're going to need? Do you have enough warm clothing?"

"Yeah, I think so? Its' fine!" She nodded, pulling a very rumbled coat out of the bottom of the box, then looking up in the closet. Way up. "Okay, I do need help I think."

"Okay." Braig came over, "Do you want me to hold you up, or just do it for you?" He'll do it either way she wants, honestly. He ruffled her hair again.

"If you do it I can see if I have my dresses in the next box? That way I can just pass them to you!" She did own two dresses. Little silk kimonos actually. And one little sun dress that had a divided skirt for playing in. She called that an almost dress.

"Momma's dresses stayed right? My dad needs those."

"Okay." Braig took the coat from her and hung it up, "Yeah, we only took your things."

"Okay, people get confused sometimes because momma said we were suppose to have them when we grew up but I'm not grown up yet." Not that Braig knew any of that really, it was just what happened the first time someone else had helped them pack.

That was it for clothing!
