Vice AU - Vacation

Dilan needed a break before the others did, although not by much. He needed to recover from having been ill, and he REALLY needed a good workout or seven. Spending the time in Aya's apartment wasn't bad, and after his first trip to Nara's gym he came back to spend some time watching TV and doing his hair.

Which is why when Ben got in there was a seven foot tall fluffy Katzu wearing a towel and a hell of a lot of piercings lounging in front of the TV with wax.

"Sure, we can write it down and if Aya doesn't like it we'll still have it so I can make it for other people!" Like culture festivals and stuff! "Aya will probably like it though."

"Sounds good...she's liked everything I've made so far." He paused in speaking while writing down, then said, "Or at least I think she has. She hasn't complained, anyway."

[mitochondriaaya]

"She has to eat, but if she doesn't like what she's eating she'll tell you!" Ben knew that for a fact! "And then after the meal she'll take you in the kitchen and try to help you figure out where things went wrong!"

"Oh, good." Dilan smiled, "That's what I like to hear."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Really?" Ben looked up at the older man, amused. "I thought adults would angry if she wanted to do that with their food!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"How else do you learn?" Dilan asked, "If you do it right, you never stop asking questions and you never stop learning. Life would be beyond boring if I didn't listen to people with different ideas and tastes."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, that makes sense, but a lot of adults say they already know everything!" Or close to it!

[sliceitwithwind]

"Which is, frankly, stupid." Dilan told Ben honestly, "Nobody knows everything, and people who think they do usually know less than other people."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Haha!" He laughed, cheerful and like someone who had just had their world view vindicated! "I...would get in trouble if I said that though right?

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, probably." Dilan agreed, "So be careful with your new found knowledge."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'll only say it to you and Aya then, when someone else is pretending to be a know-it-all." He sniffed. "H\You guys will understand!"

"Sounds like a plan." he thought about it for a moment, "You can say it to Braig, too. He'll laugh."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Okay, once I know who he is and won't be talking to the wrong guy!" Ben agreed cheerfully. "Anyway, I gotta write an essay. I'll do that upstairs and be back down soon okay?"

"My coat's in the coat closet," Dilan offered, "later you can grab my wallet out of it and look for pictures...he's hard to miss. Have fun with the essay."

[mitochondriaaya]

"No way! Those are your pockets man!" Ben was...mildly shocked! SHOCKED! "YOu can show me later." Duh.

"And it's a boring essay but I got all my note cards already." And yes he was going to climb the ladder into the loft now.

Dilan took care of the dinner dishes, and tidied up a little bit in the main room, before grabbing his wallet and pulling out the little picture-holder thingy so that Ben could flip through it when he was done with the essay. Braig, Elcy, a double-handful of other people important to Dilan. This was his real wallet, not his Breaker wallet, so there were plenty of pictures of cops in uniform hanging out.

"Can you proof read?" Ben called down something like half an hour later. "I did it, but I may still have missed somthing!" He was a kid after all!

[sliceitwithwind]

"Sure. Want me to come up there or are you bringing it down here?" He called back.

[mitochondriaaya]

"You can come up if you want! There's room even though you're tall!" The livingroom area had a vaulted ceiling after all so the ceiling was a bit up there even in the loft area. "I'll finish a math problem I forgot okay?"

His room was...someone's damn best effort to give the boy a room that was his. Screens, a desk, a comfortable bed. The loft area was larger than a lot of kids could boast for their rooms!

Dilan was careful not to knock anything over, not that it was messy just that Dilan was big and accidents happened. He settled in to read the essay, making notes about this or that bit of grammar or mis-used punctuation, "It's a good essay! There were a couple of things, but they're minor."

"I usually catch the big stuff!' Ben was proud of that fact! "On like the second or third read but still I catch it!" Little stuff was harder to see.

"I'll type it tomorrow, and it's due the day after that!"

"Sounds good to me." Dilan agreed, "I grabbed my photos out of my wallet, so when you're ready to come down again you can go through them while I see what games you've got."

[mitochondriaaya]

"They're in the cabinet downstairs!" Ben laughed cheerfully. "C'mon!" It was a big, thin cabinet of bleached wood that held the thin television and associated systems. That way it could be closed off when anyone in the room just wanted a little indoor garden instead.

Ben was...going to open the doors for Dilan then collapse on a boulder pillow to go through photos. "Hey, there's kids in here! This one looks like you!"

"A lot of 'em look like me." Dilan agreed, "The little purple-eyed kid is me, the rest of them are my bio-kids." no shame there, he was Katzu and they did this, "I've got pictures of most of the clan, actually, but all my bio-kids from all three clans that I've had kids in."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Oh, hey!" He flipped between kid pictures, comparing. "You've got a lot. That's good right? Do any of them live with you when you're not working?" Because Ben understood kids? He was one!
