Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

"Okay!" Dilan agreed, "Well...teenagers, anyway." Because they were a little old for juice boxes!

"Health conscious teenagers," Yinsi added with a chuckle. "Else we may be given endless amounts of soda pop and snack cakes." Which would be a horrible thing really.

"Ew," Aya agreed with a laugh.

"Right." Dilan agreed, making a face, "Thanks, dad."

Yinsi pulled into the house and Dilan hopped out to open the door for Aya, "C'mon, monkey, lets race to the beach."

"Your swimsuit is in the car," Aya pointed out. "And mine is upstairs! Race you after we change?" Because sometimes when Dilan was fruit buzzing he needed to be reminded of these things!

"And we can bring in all your clothes in the morning?"

"That's fine dear, just don't forget," Elcy said, slipping out of the car.

"Oh...right." Dilan nodded, and snagged the bags. All the bags, because his arms were big enough for that. Then he headed inside.

Elcy and Yinsi laughed softly, "Kids." she murmured to him, and they went around back to sit and watch the sky for a while.

Aya got the door for Dilan then dashed up the stairs to wiggle into her swimsuit. After a moment of debate she decided against lugging towels to the beach. It wasn't that cool out and they would probably end up splashing them anyway! "Anything you can think of we'll need?!" she called down the hall from her room.

"No!" Dilan called back, although he did grab some towels. Otherwise his body-hair dried funny. "C'mon! Lets go!"

"Race starts at the front porch!" Just so there was a start point! And her not throwing herself down the stairs! Granted, she still tromped down the stairs rather fast but..."OKAY GO!"

BWWEEEEEEHEEEEHEEEEHEEE?

Dilan was faster, and bigger...and clumsier! He tripped and rolled a couple of times, resulting in the two of them actually getting to the beach at about the same time.

At least he knew how to roll properly! And to be fair, Aya always hitched a few steps when that happened so she could look over her shoulder and make sure he was okay! They were fast looks though because she knew if she lost too much ground...well, she'd grown up with a katzu! Still, the race was only the beginning because she slapped his arm gently and raced straight for the surf. "TAG! ANYONE ON THE BEACH DILAN IS IT RUN!"

Dilan laughed and went after the nearest person...everyone on the beach was about his age, so they knew them all.

The nearest person was a boy who didn't manage to flail free of his chair fast enough! And he got one of the ex-girlfriends, who got Aya, who got the nominal 'lifeguard', who got one of the football players, who went after Dilan...splashing? Oh yeah, lots of it!

It was great. Dilan fumbled again, getting caught, and charged after another of the girlfriends laughing.

It was both of them, but more importantly Dilan, having fun in public without any real mishap! Aya got tagged by a kid in her science class and managed to get fingers on a diver's knee (she didn't know who) and waded back to shore so she could catch her breath. Hopefully without getting tagged again!

Dilan floundered around in the shallows, cackling like a madman. Eventually, though, he got his hands on what he was looking for...and started chasing Aya with an octopus.

...which led to a whole new game of 'help or hinder Aya'! Why did she run from the octopus? Why?! Because they had no camera right now that was why! That and, well, Dilan was chasing her with it.

Chasing her around walls of people and between people's knees who tried to stop her and right into the surf again where the 'hinder' party had arranged a net of arms. Curses!

Eventually he managed to slap it to her head, where the poor thing gripped for it's life's sake.

Yep, octopus on head. Aya crossed her eyes to watch one tentacles slap down and grip her nose, but then straightened up and mooooaaaned. OCTOPUS ZOMBIE! Octopus zombie who was slapping sea life on anyone she could catch. Mainly starfish and poor little hermit crabs because that was what she could grab!

Which caused a new game, of running from Aya until assaulted with sea-animals and then slapping critters on other people.

Dilan ended up with hermit crabs all over his dreads.

Best zombie game ever! The last survivors against the marine plague were being backed slowly into the surf when Dilan's watch beeped. That made most of the group freeze and look at each other, chagrined, then there was a general call of 'Help me get it off!'.

Aya was going to try the 'duck under the water and hope the octopus ran for it's life' tactic!

The octopus totally ran for it's life. It was NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN! So did most of the rest of the sea-life, although Dilan needed some help with a couple of the poor crabs.

"That was awesome, I wish Braig'd been here."

"We'll just have to play again Saturday night!" Aya laughed, helping to disengage one of the hermit crabs. "HEAR THAT?! SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER DARK GUYS!" Aya announced to the general crowd. It would probably be a slightly different crowd, and it might not evolve into marine zombie tag until later if the octopi were warned away from the beach but...

...yeah, it'd be fun. "Swim all day in other places and come here after dark!"

The crowd waved and dispersed, Dilan passing Aya a towel and starting to rub himself down. "I'm glad we got big towels." he noted.

Aya used her towel to squeeze Dilan's dreads before draping the fabric over her shoulders. "Yeah, and a bathing suit for you. You wouldn't have had as much fun trying to drag hakima through the surf!"

"Yeah, that would have been awkward." he agreed, ambling back home. "This was a good idea. I'm glad you had it."
