Vice - Clubbing with Kyle

The group that was waiting outside the gym where Breaker was to meet Kyle was...colourful. Some of the local thugs and bodyguards...both legit and non. A couple of people who looked as dangerous as weasels, and a couple of people who looked as bland as wall paper.

None of them were smoking, but somehow they looked like they were.

"Hmmmm, yeah, I know." Aya chuckled. "But I kind of assume that one friend won't come waltzing in here without warning!" She finished brushing the mutt and patted her hind legs. "Done fuzzball! Off you go!" Or keep wiggling in a lap, her choice!

"I have a friend from college who only drifts in when she's spiraling down you know?"

LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP! Hackett was happy enough to keep petting. "Dinner smells great." he said, smiling.

"Yeah, we've got one of those too." Dilan said, stroking Braig's temples.

"And Sheeva claims another soul," Aya chuckled. "She's taking lessons from Cat." So Hackett was doomed really. Very doomed.

'Headache?' she mouthed at Braig, worried since there was temple rubbing going on, but what she said was "Yeah, college does that to people, slapping them together with people they can't shake later. I think the lasagnas are ready any time the bread is."

"Nah, she's always been like this." Hackett said cheerfully, "I should go see if any of the retired dogs need homes...this is pretty awesome."

Braig held his fingers pretty close together. Little bit of one, he was prone to tension headaches. "Bread should be done soon." Dilan said quietly.

"The man who was working with Sheeva has a few others he's been introducing to civilian life. Dilan has his number if you'd like." She was happy to facilitate doggie retirement!

"I'll check the bread in a moment. Anything I can get while I'm up?" Aya offered. She could get painkillers for Braig!

"I'd like that." Hackett kicked Dilan's leg, "Gimme, monolith man."

"Couple of asprin and some orange juice?" Braig asked.

"Oh, and he's violent," Aya laughed, standing. "I'll ge those, you stay put, and you, Hackett, no bruising my partners! I'd have to start smacking the guest around and then there's the whole breakdown of society and such..." Bread checking, aspirin, OJ...

"About ten left on the bread I think!"

"Me, bruise Dilan?" Hackett laughed and shook his head.

Dilan laughed as well, "I'll give, I'll give. It's in my real wallet, though, so you'll have to wait."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hey, I have to look out for my boys even when they're hard to bruise!" Aya laughed and passed Braig his pills. "And you still have your boots on so it's a valid worry."

"Thanks, babe." Braig said without thinking, taking the pills and his drink.

"Ooops." Hackett said, "Sorry, Dilan. I forgot."

"Everyone forgets." Dilan said wryly.

She stroked the top of Braig's head gently, worried, then rolled her eyes at the other two. "The obvious solution is to take your boots off and stay a while. Then I don't have to threaten you anymore, right?"

"Unfortunately," Hackett said, "I have to leave after dinner. I have fish to feed."

"He's got a huge collection of tropical fish." Dilan said, "It's amazing."

"Dilan can, and will, stare at them for hours. This is why we have no fish."

"Well, I'll have to reinstate the threats then, sadly, should you kick." Aya mock sighed in his direction and poked Dilan's forehead. "And I'm duly impressed. I can't do the fish thing!"

Dilan snapped at her finger amiably, "Me either. I always want to eat them."

"Which is why I don't leave Dilan alone with my fish."

[mitochondriaaya]

If he was going to snap she was going to have to bop his nose now wasn't she? "Where's the trust? Has he ever actually reached into your tanks?"

"Not yet." Dilan said, grinning.

"See?" Hackett said cheerfully, "Not yet, he says."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Which is totally code for 'it's fun to watch you hover over the fish tanks'!" Aya giggled. "Have you considered setting up a feeder tank that it's okay to dip into when katzu or cats visit?" She was going to set the table while talking!

"No." Hackett admitted, "And I probably won't. Dilan can control himself, I just like fucking with him."

[mitochondriaaya]

"That can backfire though..." she laughed. "What do people want to drink? More OJ for you Braig?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, thanks."

"Water for me." Dilan said, "I've already got an OJ buzz."

"Water for me, too." Hackett added, "I'm still a little drunk."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Water, water, Oj, Oj," she singsonged softly as she was getting things set up. "So how did you guys meet? On the force in the same precinct or was it before then?" Plates, silverware, then setting lasagna pans on trivets in the middle!

"Academy!" All three men sang out, "Hackett was the year behind us."

"Uh oh,"she laughed and pulled the bread out. "I know what kind of trouble academy buds can get up to! "Do you have horror stories for me?"

They could make that last all night, really. One story after another throughout dinner.

She offered her own stories; granted she'd been younger in the academy, her hijinx a little tamer, but she had a few good ones! And three big lasagnas was just about enough for the four! By the time the food was gone and the pets had been fed dawn was starting to tint the sky. "Hey, come back alright Hackett? It's nice to have visitors." And she'd liked him honestly!
