Aya AU

The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

She looked up and stuck her tongue out at him. Really, if he thought she was joking. "I'll find you too, you know, if my parks gets damaged from a rogue experiment. You just keep that in mind." she mock threatened.

"I hear and obey." he says with a flourishing bow that neither dumps him nor pulls on her.

"See that you do..." She watched the bow with a little more than academic interest, then shook her head, grinning. "Show off" she teased.

"Shameless show off." He agrees, tossing his hair to get the dreads back behind his shoulders again.

She helpfully tucked the few errant dreads over his shoulder for him, then gave him back her hand. "Well, nothing to be ashamed of if you pull it off." she agreed easily.

"Nah, that's just being smug. Shameless means even if you completely fuck up you grin and keep on moving."

"Ah, I've learned something new then." she chuckled. The boys at the precinct wouldn't believe her of course, shameless there was kind of loosely defined as 'Willingly pulling dumb stunts that could land you on your ass, repeatedly'. There was still shame and embarrassment when they fucked up though!

"Aha! A bridge! We're saved from having to find a ford?"

"I'm glad to have helped increase your store of knowledge." Dilan says mock-seriously. "Ah, sweet. Although it does rob me of the chance to manfully bear you across so you don't have to get wet."

"Thank you, teacher." she offered sweetly. "Sorry to say I'd have gotten wet anyway? You'd have been soaked, at least to the waist, and I'd lean against your side...and well.. " she shrugged. Aya wasn't incredibly romantic?

And she'd never been carried in her life. She usually managed to be in places stretchers could get to!

"It's the principal of the thing." Dilan explains cheerfully, "All romantic and stuff."

"...right. I'll take your word for it." she noted cheerfully. "I just really never say the point in perfectly healthy people being carried."

"You're short." Dilan points out, "But if you're in my arms, you're kissing-height."

"That's kissing, not carrying." she noted easily. "Kissing has far different rules." Mainly 'Anything goes as long as it's good'. "Carrying seems like an excuse for one person to be lazy and burden another."

"I get a kick out of carrying girls." Dilan says with a shrug.

"Well, if you really want to carry me next time there's the option, you can? Just warn me so I don't elbow you in the nose or anything." yeah, she really didn't get it, but if it made him happy...

"Warning." he states, then sweeps her off her feet and into his arms, head angled back so that if she does go for the nose she'll probably miss it. His chest is over-warm for a human, and broad, and strong, and has interesting feeling bits where he's pierced. Their faces are, suddenly, only inches apart.

And he's still skating.

"What...eep!" was about all she managed before she no longer in firm contact with the ground. She really, really should have seen this coming. She'd just been expecting just a little bit more warning.

And a lack of skates.

Ummm?

At least he was solid enough that she didn't feel like she was going to fall immediately? Still, she felt a bit more secure sliding an arm across his shoulders. "Ummm. Hi?" she offered once she was settled. "You're nuts, just so you know."

"You've known that since the second I asked you out." Dilan says easily. "Just relax and let yourself be."

"I have been wrong upon occasion." she pointed out He might only have been generally insane. At least 'nuts' was a fun kind of crazy? "Be what?" she countered, though she was, slowly, relaxing into his hold.

It was almost...nice?

"Be a beautiful young woman out on a date with a nice, if slightly insane young man." he says promptly, "Be alive. Be Aya, not Detective Brea. Be happy."

She blinked at him a moment then chuckled softly "Last I checked, I had a pulse." she teased gently. Yes, she knew she wasn't good at being just Aya.

Yes, she knew how obvious it was.

She could focus past that to tease though.

"And actually, I am rather happy. Happier than I've been in a while." she lifted her head just enough to press a kiss to his cheek "Thank you"

"Good." Dilan says firmly, "That's the point. You're very, very welcome."

"Dilan the altruist?" she laughed "Somehow I think there's more to 'the point' than just getting me to have a good time." dating was a many faceting thing she was told. Complicated. Yep.

And yes, even her brain couldn't convince her they weren't 'officially' dating if she was letting him skate around with her in his arms.

"Me having a good time." Dilan says, "Happily I'm the kind of laid back individual who enjoys himself when his date is having a good time."

"Okay, I can accept that." she chuckled. She liked it when the people with her were having fun...and he didn't seem the type to lie.

The bridge was far behind them by that point, and she really couldn't help but ask "How far are you carrying me?" just for information's sake, really! After all, she was inclined to kiss him again, but the rule of 'Don't distract the driver!' seemed very applicable right now.
