When Dilan knocks on Aya's door to pick her up he's dressed up. Which, in his case, means geta and tabi, silk hakama, and dress kimono. He looks good but very. Very not. Er.

He looks very good. He's got a small box under one arm, and waits for her to open the door.

"Hmmm, I think I have a higher set..." she noted, thinking about the contents of her closet. "could slip those on if you like." because yes, it was really, really nice. Yep.

"It's a date, as long as it's not the sweet popcorn. That's just weird."

"You can save those for some other night." Dilan says, wiggling his eyebrows.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hmmm, true..." she noted teasingly. "Besides, you picked these out for me special tonight. Be a shame to change." she started tugging him slowly from the bathroom.

"Besides, too much taller and it'll be hard to hide behind you."

Dilan follows, grinning at her, "Got a limo outside. Why do you need to hide?"

"Ah, limo. The only car you can actually stretch out in?" she hazarded, grabbing her wrap and hooking her arm in his. "Mmm...politics.' she laughed. "Kinda"

"I'm tall." he points out, like it's a secret, "Also, Ansem provided it."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hadn't noticed." she deadpanned. "Well, I'll have to thank Ansem I guess. It takes something out of the evening if we have to hop a taxi to the ball."

"Yup. And it's one of the good drivers, too. Very safe, doesn't get lost."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hey, taxis only get lost if you're rude or they're broke..." Aya pointed out. She supported taxi drivers! "I'll put up with a limo though. Shall we?"

"That doesn't make them any less tiny." Dilan points out, shaking his head, "Lets go, my dear."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hmmm, they have taxi SUVs now." she noted teasingly. "And even vans I hear." what insanity!

"I"m afraid tonight will be a little like your political parties. We...well. We play nice and smile? It's how we show we're grateful for the funding?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"We can do that." Dilan says, nodding, "And later we can go home and have pizza or something else suitably low class."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I am not making mac and cheese from a box and cutting hotdogs into it." Aya grimaced. "Pizza is low class enough. If we're feeling really needy we'll get cheap wine coolers?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"That's fine. Pizza and wine coolers will do." he leans down to kiss her gently.

[mitochondriaaya]

"That's kind of reassuring." Aya laughed, then traced her fingertips up his cheek. "Let's go look official m'kay? And save Danny from what ever argument he's gotten into by now..." good limo drivers held open doors. This let Aya continue the kiss right until she slip backwards onto a seat.

Dilan follows and stretches his legs out in the limo. "I promise to beat any donation given by someone who starts trying to hold it over your head."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I can usually sidetrack most of our generous donors. Their eligible sons on the other hand..." she ended that on an annoyed hiss. "There are disadvantages to having rushed through college. Mainly not being a well worn thirty year old detective..."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Well, their eligible sons now have stiff competition. Competition who is not awed by their old money and inbreeding."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I fully intend to hide behind you." she informed him simply. "And maybe ask you to dance, but definitely hiding." there were limits to her bravery!

She'd make it up to him?

"You can even stand on my feet if you want to." Dilan offers, smiling brightly.

[mitochondriaaya]

She blinked at him for a few moments then very simply asked "Why in the world would I need to stand on your feet? I'm in heels for Yates sake! I'd puncture my boyfriend and then have to explain the blood!"

"You could take them off!" he grins at her, "Or we could run off, you know. Together."

[mitochondriaaya]

"And lose the very nice height boost?" she pointed out. "And if we run off most he precinct will think we're eloping. And Danny will kill us for abandoning him to high society."

"We can take him with us?" It's a good plan!

[mitochondriaaya]

"Why are we planning to run off?" she asked "And how did we get there from standing on your feet? I still have no reason to start that either!" she giggled.
