Aya AU

The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

Dilan grins and says, "I can take it."

"We'll see" she laughed. Everyone had their braking point. She hadn't managed to get through the Pokemon marathon.

"Feeling ready to head out again?"

"Sounds like a plan." Dilan says, "Looks like the coast is clear, too."

Dilan can spend his time in Pokemon world thinking about how the genetics works.

"So it is." she agreed, looking up and down the path as she repacked her backpack. "Skates..." she'd apologize for half-flopping over him to reach her footwear, but, really, she didn't think he'd mind.

It wasn't, really, the Pokemon that bothered her but the human characters.

"Right." he packs the food back up while she gets her skates back on, then stands.

He's capable of ignoring plot in favour of genetics.

She strapped her skates back on with a bit more alacrity than last time then stood. A brief glance at Dilan and she chuckled, reaching out to brush grass clippings off his back. "Do you happen to remember when the Reptile house closes?"

"Not a clue." Dilan admits, "Guess we'll find out when we get there."

"That's helpful" she laughed, gliding a few feet down the sidewalk. "I guess we will. And if we're lucky they'll have switched to summer hours already?" otherwise they could pout at the locked door?

Dilan keeps pace with her, "That'd be great. If not, well. We can come back some other time."

"There is that..." she agreed, swerving just enough to bump his hip playfully "Central park will probably still be here when next we feel like coming..."

"At least unless Ienzo gets his teleporter working." That's not a joke.

"You can inform your Ienzo that if he takes away my park I will find him." she threatened soberly. "I understand scientific advancement, but leave the park out of it."

"He an have the Rockefeller center if he absolutely must."

Dilan cracks up at that, reaching out to hold her hand.

She let the sober mask slip for a gamine grin and tugged his hand gently. "What? I like the park! Rockefeller's main attraction is the rink outside..." she laughed.

"Yes'm." Dilan says, eyes sparkling.

She looked up and stuck her tongue out at him. Really, if he thought she was joking. "I'll find you too, you know, if my parks gets damaged from a rogue experiment. You just keep that in mind." she mock threatened.

"I hear and obey." he says with a flourishing bow that neither dumps him nor pulls on her.

"See that you do..." She watched the bow with a little more than academic interest, then shook her head, grinning. "Show off" she teased.

"Shameless show off." He agrees, tossing his hair to get the dreads back behind his shoulders again.

She helpfully tucked the few errant dreads over his shoulder for him, then gave him back her hand. "Well, nothing to be ashamed of if you pull it off." she agreed easily.

"Nah, that's just being smug. Shameless means even if you completely fuck up you grin and keep on moving."

"Ah, I've learned something new then." she chuckled. The boys at the precinct wouldn't believe her of course, shameless there was kind of loosely defined as 'Willingly pulling dumb stunts that could land you on your ass, repeatedly'. There was still shame and embarrassment when they fucked up though!

"Aha! A bridge! We're saved from having to find a ford?"

"I'm glad to have helped increase your store of knowledge." Dilan says mock-seriously. "Ah, sweet. Although it does rob me of the chance to manfully bear you across so you don't have to get wet."

"Thank you, teacher." she offered sweetly. "Sorry to say I'd have gotten wet anyway? You'd have been soaked, at least to the waist, and I'd lean against your side...and well.. " she shrugged. Aya wasn't incredibly romantic?

And she'd never been carried in her life. She usually managed to be in places stretchers could get to!

"It's the principal of the thing." Dilan explains cheerfully, "All romantic and stuff."
