Aya AU

The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

She got that sharp, swimming sensation in her head that meant she'd turned just wrong in a bout...and yeah. There was the dizziness coming in. She didn't hit the mats though, therefore...she really had clocked Dilan.

Jesus fucking Christ she clocked Dilan?!

"Fucking hell son of Sam and bloody Mary." she swore as she slipped from under his arm to better kneel on their seat bench and examine his jaw with very, very careful fingers.

She wasn't immediately reassured. Not by a long shot. She'd known far too many guys who tended to brush off injuries and yeah. She was just going to make sure...

She stayed as she was for a few moments longer before she squeezed his fingers back and slipped back down onto the seat. Safely away from his jaw this time. "Sometimes." she admitted. The offending phone was retrieved from her pocket and a quick text to Danny fired off, then she sighed and leaned back.

"I'm sorry. I forgot I asked Ben to set it to something obnoxious." Just...Jesus. "I'm sorry"

Aya was tiny. Delicate would have been the term if she hadn't worked so hard to be toned. But she was small. And fragile looking...and she utterly and completely believed she could have truly injured him. It took her several minutes to slowly relax back into Dilan's side, but she managed.

"The swearing thing..." she sighed. "I picked it up when my Uncle and I didn't want my dad to know his little girl could swear." she offered.

"Yeah, it wasn't meant to hold over through college and into cophood." she chuckled. "Though it's funny to see Pierce's 'list of severity' posted in the sound van..."

"Dilan" she stated quite calmly "I'm sure if you asked, he'd give you the slightly-more-than-illegal tour." she sighed.

"Pierce has his days, but I've never seen him as excited as when you signed his mug." Sure, cred with Pierce would probably fall once word got around, but that wasn't really something she'd notice.

She blinked up at him a moment before facepalming. "It was a joke. A sardonic joke, but teasing. I'm sorry. I just meant you made an impression."

...

"Well, that and Pierce will do dumb things when impressed. You'd should have heard the last reaming he got about civilians in the observation booth..." even Aya had to admit that the mail girl had been impressive...but Pierce had been paranoid of people for weeks afterward.

"In my experience, Dilan, people using or abusing their positions don't tend to sit quietly in interrogation rooms. They have lawyers in at first opportunity and they smile at you as they walk out the damn door." she sighed. Needless to say? Well, a person like that wouldn't have asked Aya out and meant it.

"...and said person probably wouldn't have gone walking down the street with me at two in the morning either." she admitted after a moment of thought.

"I won't accuse you of it." she promised simply. Dilan had the benefit of being...a person with her. Not an image, not an ideal. She didn't know how to relate to those who weren't comfortable with being people.

"So do I. That and driving kind of bothers me." she chuckled. "I like walking better in the early morning and in good company."

"I drive when Danny and I have to split up." if the look on her face was anything to go by, well, driving and lack of a partner were bad. "At least you have an excuse..." she teased.

"You've always lived in an area where there's mass transit?"

"Well, that's one way to ensure relatively quiet vacations..." she mused. "Was the house, and beach, worth the hike though?"

"Fair enough then." she offered with a grin. "I may have to revise my opinion of beaches, since I now know someone who actually enjoys them..."

"I never managed to figure out the appeal of sand." she noted. The sand she was familiar with was, well, stuff in construction sites and kiddy sandboxes.

"But by the sounds of it, it's worth it to watch the surfing. And maybe swimming. Is it that different, ocean swimming as opposed to other options?" she asked curiously.

"It's grainy. And shifty." she countered easily. Blankets worked just as well for warm, right?

"I don't think I'm allowed any more things that want to kill me..." she laughed. "But I'll try it at least once before I pass final judgment. Me? I'm in favor of swimming in fall pools. The deep areas just under waterfalls?" she loved...the noise. How it echoed even when totally under. Loud and strange enough that she couldn't hear herself think. It was relaxing...
