"Thank you" she sighed softly up at him...then allowed Cat to have her total attention. She wasn't even doing the cop 'one eye on the surrounding' thing. Or even caring that they were still standing outside the precinct on the steps.

Yeah, Aya was in love. Totally and utterly in love with soft little kitty paws. "Sorry love, wasn't ignoring you..." she laughed at the face pat...then carefully freed one hand to tickle under Cat's chin.

Dilan grins and shifts Aya out of the way of people walking down past her. It's adorable, but he's not going to tell her that.

Until he figures out a good synonym.

Years of training meant that sometimes her feet knew their job better than she did. Which meant, more or less, she managed not to fall on her ass while being guided around by Dilan. Had she even really noticed? She might have been proud of her dexterity.

But...but...oh god, little kitty paws, and a tiny kitty nose and a teeny pointed chin...

And licking, yes. Cat licks Aya's cheek gently.

She'd honestly probably never smiled so much at once in her life. But, it felt like...well, warm soft sandpaper. The description was an oxymoron, yes, but soft and sandpaper!!

...and maybe there should be sitting. Yes, sitting was good. It gave her a lap! Laps were wonderful places for cats so she could have both hands free for petting!

Dilan settles down with them and wraps his warm around Aya's back, letting her lean against him. Cat, well. She sniffs Aya, and Dilan, and walks back and forth over both laps.

Aya snuggled back instinctively and watched, nearly transfixed, as Cat paced and hopped across laps. Eventually, after a bit more petting and playing, she managed to tear her gaze away from the feline and grin up at Dilan once more. There were things she wanted to say, like 'Thank you' and such.

What came out was "She's a kitty!"

Dilan blinks down at her for a moment and then cracks. the fuck. up.

"Yes, yes she is. She's a good kitty."

There was a moment of blinking, then Aya was joining in the helpless laughter and hiding her face in her hands. Really. Just...shoot her now. She could die happy at least?

Cause...kitty.

"Very good kitty" she mumbled between her fingers.

Soft sandpaper on her fingers, as Cat attempts to see what's wrong. Dilan kisses Aya's head, chuckling into her hair.

Well, at least she was in company that would forgive her? She was still laughing as she lowered her hands, but it was a bit more controlled. "I'm okay..." she assured Cat. "For a given definition of okay." she was probably insane?

She got to cuddle Cat though. And be cuddled by Dilan. This worked! "Oh god, nobody followed us from the precinct did they?!" she knew the boys.

Dilan looks up, then down at Aya, "Babe, I'm sorry, but you never got away from the precinct." She got distracted by Cat pretty much at the bottom of the stairs. They are now sitting on the stairs. Yes.

"....hell." she sighed mildly, scooping up Cat to cuddle her face in the cat's fur. "I'm going to have to do something drastic to get my reputation back." she laughed.

Totally worth it.

Cat snuggles up into the cuddling and purrs like a motor.

"Jesus Christ your girl is loud..." it came out a little weird through fur, purring, and lingering laughter but it was understandable.

"And I think my brain isn't going to check out anymore...you want to get off the steps?" she offered.

"Here, there, wherever." Dilan says cheerfully, standing up and offering her his hand. He scoops up the carrier as he stands, slinging the strap across his chest, "You can dump her in there if you get tired of carrying her."

Aya got the look that very clearly said 'Anyone getting tired of Cat was insane' but accepted Dilan's hand up anyway. Her shoulders weren't nearly the support Dilan's were, but she had a chest to even things out!

"Wherever sounds good." Aya agreed easily. "I'm needed at the gym in...hmmm, eight, but until then I'm all yours." 'yours' being plural of course.

Cat finds a comfy spot and snuggles in. "Hmmm. I know a restaurant with outdoor seating, if you want to get drinks before you work out? By drinks I'm thinking lemonade or something, obviously."

And Aya tried not to look like she was walking with several thousand dollars worth of spun glass in her care? Or, really, she just tried not to jostle Cat. "That would be wonderful. I don't know how much working out there'll be tonight though...we're rookie watching." she offered.

Dilan is trying not to laugh at his girlfriend. "Cat's very durable, sweetie." he points out, arm around Aya's waist. "Down this way about eight blocks, left, another block. Green tables. Well, if you want company Cat and I can watch rookies with you."

"She's a tiny kitty." she countered. "I don't want to drop her, even if she could manage quite fine." she'd figure out the balance between careful and graceful soon enough?

"If you want." she agreed. "It might be boring, abysmal, or worrisome, depending on the batch."

"She is, but she's a scrapper." he reaches across their bodies and pets Cat gently. "I've got a book, if it's boring I can read."

"And I don't want to give her cause to glare at me..." Aya admitted with a laugh. She tilted her head just enough to lean against Dilan's arm a moment as he petted Cat.

"Well, I hope it's not that boring? I don't get to read..." she sighed. She was expected to watch and offer opinions and concerns to the other officers present.

"Well, yes, but you get paid for that." Dilan points out, "I - get to be eye candy for you, afterwards."

"Well, kind of paid. Officers who routinely help watch over the rookies in training, or help out with teaching get to use the gym for free." she sighed. And honestly, she liked helping.

"A kitty and you sticking around just to offer yourself up as eye candy? Wow, what did I do to deserve a day like this?" she teased. She wasn't saying no. Nope. That'd be very, very dumb.

Eye candy. Hmmm. "The gym has a pool." she noted.
