Aya AU

The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

"Yep, you'll be the next hottest thing in a nine year old's life." she laughed. "I almost can't wait..." there was only so much Ben could do to embarrass her after all, that's what little brother's did and she simply had to accept it. Seeing how Dilan interacted with the kid though? She was really looking forward to that.

That...was almost startling to realize.

"Good thing I understand the fickleness of kids." Dilan says cheerfully, "Otherwise I'd be setting up for disappointment when his heart was captured by something else."

"Five minutes of fame." she agreed with a laugh. "Though he's got a longer attention span than most kids I've dealt with?" she offered.

"When the inevitable does happen though, I'll tell him to be gentle." she teased.

"That's good." Dilan says as he flops back on the grass to chew food without staring at Aya for a bit, "I have a fragile ego."

She was quick enough to disengage her arm so she didn't follow him down to the grass. Aya did stay leaning against his hip though. He was a better back rest than nothing at the moment! "I'll try not to let me and mine cause you irreparable damage." she chuckled.

And he's warm! "My hero!" he cackles to the sky, "She shall save me from her friends and assorted."

Warm was a plus. Sure, it was almost summer, but still a plus! "My job" she pointed out as she elbowed him gently. "And don't knock the offer. The precinct boys can play dirty when they feel the need to..." she tried to remain calm and composed. She really did.

The cackling won her over to giggles though.

"Who's knocking?" Dilan asks, "It's been a long time since I got to be dude in distress."

"Hmmm, we'll see how that goes." she promised simply. "I bet you make a cute dude in distress. How does the scene usually play out from there?"

"Celebratory cooking and footrubs." Dilan says soberly, "I give good footrubs."

"Well, that's better than a planned marriage and half a kingdom." she agreed easily." she chuckled "Half a kingdom would get in the way of New York, and we can't have that."

She tilted her head to look down at him, then grinned "Funny, I do footrubs too."

He cracks his eyes open and says; "You do? Man. We could still get married, then. Mutual footrubs is so nice it's almost a sin."

"Hmmm, if it's any consolation I'm sure it's actually listed as a sin in at least one religion if not more?" she countered with a grin. "Certified footrubs. Massage was my elective course all through college."

"Wow." He is seriously impressed about that. Seriously.

She eyed him a moment then shrugged "Sounds more impressive than it is." she admitted. "But I do enjoy it, so, you just have to ask." Aya smiled and wiggled her fingers at him.

"I have perpetual tension from leaning over tables built for people a lot smaller than me, or sitting in chairs where the same applies." Dilan says quietly, "Any time, seriously, you want to."

"Ouch" she hissed in sympathy. And she thought the precinct desks were terrible? Really. Ouch.

"That takes a lot longer than I normally have for massage, but Thursday evening after cooking? I can work on your back and shoulders then. Ben and I normally watch a movie, so interaction isn't a big thing then..."

"If you're willing, I'd be grateful." Dilan says simply.

"Wouldn't offer if I wasn't." she countered just as easily. "Besides, it gives you a reason not to abandon me to Ben's movie choices..."

"Would I do something like that?" Dilan asks in mock offence. Very mock. "Seriously, though, I appreciate it."

"I have seen many a brave man run screaming at kids cartoons." she admitted with a straight face. "It may be a torture method in some countries, I'm not sure..." she mused, then reached over to pass his thermos back to him.

"It'll be fun."

Dilan grins and says, "I can take it."

"We'll see" she laughed. Everyone had their braking point. She hadn't managed to get through the Pokemon marathon.

"Feeling ready to head out again?"

"Sounds like a plan." Dilan says, "Looks like the coast is clear, too."

Dilan can spend his time in Pokemon world thinking about how the genetics works.

"So it is." she agreed, looking up and down the path as she repacked her backpack. "Skates..." she'd apologize for half-flopping over him to reach her footwear, but, really, she didn't think he'd mind.

It wasn't, really, the Pokemon that bothered her but the human characters.
