Braig was out of the room when Dilan peeked back in, finally. He grabbed the bag, which over the course of packing had taken on capital letters; The Bag. It had the G-strings with their fake fig leaves, the apples, Aya's clear bra, and the container that held one comfortably dozing snake.

Dilan had checked, it was fine to keep the snake curled up in there for the couple of hours it had taken...and he'd checked on it every time they stopped. Still a very large snake. Very large. He poked the remaining lump in the bed, "Aya! He's out!"

He dropped her share of stuff on the bed and started stripping with absolutely no regard for modesty. Not that he'd ever had any. The usual array of noises that occurred after every waxing were made, along with giggles. (Manly giggles.)

"Okay." Braig decided, "And I don't hate gravity. I just wanna know more about it."

"Yeah. Aya and I got back upstairs and crashed pretty early...did not expect this. Was he okay? We expected to see him."

She nodded, offering a smile as she listened. "Nah, I really think you have a grudge against it. After all, it pulls on your spine all day..." she teased gently.

PIerce sighed. Right. Cover story time. "Well, we kinda lost track of time. I needed backup you see, meeting a rival programmer and then we got drinking and stuff...I shoulda let him go to the con you know? But we were having fun."

Braig patted her hand, then relaxed as the EMT got a nice needle full of painkillers in his arm. "Nah. 'S fascinating."

"Okay." Dilan said after a minute. He...smelled BS, but wasn't going to argue it. If it was something the older men didn't want him to know, well. He could be sneaky and find out later!

Yay painkillers! She approved! "Fascinating, sure, in that 'I'll end up accidentally in space without a suit' kinda way! You know more astrophysics students are lost that way!"

Pierce sighed, not caring how much Dilan guessed as long as he didn't ask questions. "So how was your day man? I need to get there tomorrow to get some art done."

"Are not. I'm not going to end up in space. I have a lab." It made sense to him, anyway.

Dilan smiled, "It was fun. Aya and I did cosplay as Terran Apples, and it went over really well. Later we just hung out listening to panels."

[mitochondriaaya]

"A lab makes it even more likely because you think you're safe!" She patted his hand gently instead of swatting him. She was gentle when they were hurt! "I will be annoyed if you end up orbiting earth."

Pierce coughed, "The Terran Apples?! Holy shit man! Like, really?"

"Understood." He flipped his hand over to grip hers. "I won't."

"Yeah." Dilan grinned, "Aya had a wig and stuff, we looked awesome."

"Good, because I can totally kick a ghost's ass, and you would have earned it then." She squeezed his hand and smiled. "And for the record, Pierce is terrible backup."

Pierce shook his head and whistled. "Tell me someone got pics man. That takes guts you know? I bet you win a prize for cosplay."

"Nah. He stayed outta the way. Can't ask for more." Braig pointed out, closing his eyes. Niiiice drugs. Haaaappy drugs.


"Lots of people got pictures. I don't care if we get a prize or not, it was fun."

"Well, there is that I guess. I'm still annoyed." She used her free hand to pet his hair gently since it seemed like he was passing out of the realm of coherent conversation.

PIerce grinned. "I will have to find everyone who has any con pics then, just to see! They link most good photos to the con page. Hmm..."

Braig gripped her hand a little tighter, then closed his eyes and slipped into a light sleep.

"Sure, man. Enjoy? Just don't ogle Aya."

Aya let him drift as much as he was able, after all none of the machines were screaming and Dilan could do a mean Detox when necessary.

Pierce coughed, then glared at Dilan. "Dude, I know how old she is! I just want it for the 'Yeah, I know those crazy Terran Apple kids' factor! Geeze. Ew."

"Fair enough." Dilan said, looking serene. Or as serene as it was possible to be when squeezed into the back of a cop car built for smaller species.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Damn straight it is." He sniffed, then looked around the back of the car. "Huh, well, this bites. Would it help if I tuck my legs up on the seat?"

"Not really." he said, "I'm just glad it's not a long ride. He's going to be okay, right?"

Say "right", Pierce, or you'll have an even MORE fretting large predator next to you.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Right," Pierce snorted. "If it wasn't for that damn poison you took care of he wouldn't be doing more than telling me to slap super glue on his face." Granted, Pierce never actually did this when told to by a drunk brawler, but hey!

"...Probably. He's kind of an idiot, sometimes." But it was fond. Braig was an idiot, but he was their idiot. "I just hope I got all of it."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Well, yeah, he has to balance the genius somehow." Just like Dilan had his moments of idiocy! It was a thing! "Even if you didn't I don't think the brute back there was able to really brew up something assassin like in it's deadliness. Worst case scenario Braig has a headache to match mine tomorrow! Serve him right, not getting hangovers."

"Yeah, that's kinda a pain sometimes." Dilan agreed, "But then, I have hangovers that make me want to die if I have two beers." he glanced at the cop, "With mom and dad at home."

The cop snorted, "Not my problem tonight, kid. Just keep it that way."

"He has very responsible parents," Pierce allowed with a nod. "Still, damn Braig to the upper atmosphere for the lack of hangovers. It makes me want to shake him until his head spins."

"I wouldn't." Dilan said, "He gets bitchy when he's hungover."

The cop pulled into the hospital and opened the door for them, Dilan popping his back before saying; "Thanks."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, well, we could at least all be bitchy together." Pierce snorted and slipped put of the car with a nod to the officer. "Bitchy without drag even. So, ER waiting room?" Which way? This wasn't his town, or hospital of choice!

"This way." Dilan had been there before, although he mentioned; "I donate blood here, so that there's always some in the city in case I get hurt. Donate back home and at Aya's college, too." He's a busy guy! Also pretty damned smart. "I know this hospital pretty well."

Aya was not allowed into the room with Braig, confidentiality issues, so the boys met her in the waiting room.

"Dude, you're prepared." Pierce noted, following him kind of like a bit of flotsam caught in Dilan's wake. Even better that the leader had a goal in mind! "I n case, you know, Aya's college throws buzz saws at you or something."

Aya was..in the middle of explaining 'emergency contact' t the nice nurse who was keeping her out when the boys arrived. Well, it'd serve them right if Braig clocked somebody..."Hey, slow cop car."

"You never know. I could get hit by a bus." He totally could get hit by a bus! He gets distracted. "Yeah, I know." Dilan leaned down to buss her cheek, then turned to the nurse, "You have to let one or the other of us in. We both have power of attorney. Also if we have to call his mom you'll be really unhappy."
