Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

"I'm not alone." Dilan said, "I've got you guys."

Elcy smiled at him, "Yes, but I understand where Aya is coming from."

"Different kind of alone!" Aya sniffed and stole the dessert menu from him. "Just different. You don't listen to me when I say you're normal and fine!"

Dilan shrugged a little and said, "Yeah. Um. I'm gonna get the half watermelon."

He was normal and fine for his age group! Hmmph! "I'll get the parfait!" It had fruit and yogurt in case Dilan wanted to share? And she was still trying to eat healthier due to class! "So, anyway, we'll write to Sannish? And maybe he'll tell us who else to write to?"

"That's a good idea. Sannish would probably love to hear from you."

"I write him regularly!" Dilan said, "I just haven't since I finished growing."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I write a lot too, but still not since Dilan grew." Aya admitted a bit sheepishly. "Shoulda done it when Dilan was asleep and stuff but..." but there had been things. Like whimpering and pliers!

"It's okay, I'm sure he won't be upset. Things happen."

[mitochondriaaya]

"And sometimes he doesn't get our letters until later if they're wandering." Sometimes they got responses to several letters in one long one! "Still, should have thought to write. Now I feel like a dork."

[sliceitwithwind]

"You are a dork, Aya. Just not for that reason." Dilan was so helpful, wasn't he?

"Dilan, be nice." said Elcy.

[mitochondriaaya]

Aya stuck her tongue out at Dilan and huffed. "Yeah, well, you're a brainiac dork!" So there!

"Children." Elcy said, shaking her head, "Don't start arguing, we're having a nice meal."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'm not arguing!" Aya countered. "I'm sharing!" Sharing dorkhood!

Dilan said, "We should probably drop it."

Which got a nod from Yinsi.

Yes, okay, fine.

Still. She'd bug him later about what made her a dork!

"Okay. What do we need to know for the fundraiser Friday?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Just the usual, dear." Elcy said, "Be polite, don't agree to anything regarding money, we'll be home by one in the morning."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I think it's funny when they try to talk to kids about money," Aya snorted. "Can we watch Saturday Morning Moogles when we get up or is it a chores first weekend after that?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"You can watch TV." Elcy said, "Yinsi and I will probably need to sleep in after a late night." They were Olia, after all, "If you get chores done early, however, you can go swimming the rest of the day."

"Moogles then chores." Dilan said firmly.

"What time are we leaving to the fundraiser?" Aya asked, trying to juggle time in her head. If they were going to have a long car ride maybe she could do her weekend homework in the car?

[sliceitwithwind]

"Seven o'clock. It'll be about an hour and a half in the car." Yinsi said, "Dilan, you'll have to sit in front now, so that you can stretch your legs."

"Okay, dad."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'll do my homework in the car," Aya decided. "So yeah, Moogles then chores Saturday." And a whole lot of swimming! "We still have that book light I can clip to my text book right?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"I've got one." Dilan said, "I use it whenever we're all together, so that I don't disturb people by getting out of bed."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Mind if I borrow it for doing homework? It'll be dark before we get there if we're driving that long." Because it was important to ask! :And you're comfy so I'm glad you don't leave when you wake up."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Sure!" Dilan said, "Just don't forget to bring it back in."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I have to if I clip it to my books!" Aya laughed. "Last time I left homework in the car there was that rain storm when we forgot to roll up the windows..."

"Oh yeah." Dilan shuddered, "And we spent all morning trying to dry everything out or re-do it."
