The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

"Because of course that's its best feature." she laughed. "The poor snakes feel very neglected now..."

"Snakes, while interesting in many ways and very sexy in certain circumstances involving dancing, are not nearly as intriguing as actually being really warm." Dilan says virtuously.

"Oh...ech." she wrinkled her nose "I can't help but flash to the scene in Bladerunner every time snake dancing comes up." movie marathons could go very, very bad with the group she knew? Blade runner had been good. Playing that particular scene over and over in slow motion to argue over the actual details? That had been bad.

"I'm almost afraid to ask what your heating bills are like."

Dilan laughs and says, "Oh, dear. Well, knock that off my mental images list, then." Mostly. Sort of. Not. "They're not actually that bad, we've got really good insulation, double paned windows, and my room has tapestries slash rugs on the walls to help keep the heat in."

"You don't have to." she laughed "I'm just going to avoid the mental imagery." she pointed out simply. She didn't expect anyone not also experiencing that particular trauma to have issues?

"Hmm, that is the bright way to go about it." she admitted. "How much did the glass run you? I might have to look into that as my next home improvement project." her apartment had a lot of glass and a lot fewer walls?

"Sweet. I can send it back into the mental filing cupboard." He pauses for an over-elaborate 'filing' sort of motion before putting his hand back on her arm. Then he gives her a set of detailed quotes.

"Neatly filed musings?" she teased, patting his hand "Is it alphabetical?" cause that'd be interesting. And weird. And yes, she'd probably ask about ideas for various letters...

The quotes made her pause though. She usually carried a small notepad and pencil opposite her wallet, and this was well worth writing down. "Yep, going to have to look into that. Even if it just cuts heating a little it'll be worth it."

"Nah. I have a filing system based as much on synesthetic reactions as on anything that someone else can understand." Dilan admits, "So other synesthets think that it makes perfect sense, but nobody else does."

"Even mentally?" she blinked up at him "That's...well, cool honestly." she couldn't think of a better word for it. "Too bad you don't have telepaths to mess with. That would be incredibly amusing." she grinned.

Yes, Ben may be a little too influential in her life.

"Sometimes I do." Dilan says cheerfully, "Braig's experiments often lead into exploration of psychic phenomena along with more standard magic. If they come out swearing up and down that I'm insane and impossible to read they're more likely to be real."

"Hmmm, now I know who to drag in if we have to find a new psych for the precinct." she grinned. They didn't use them often. And most of those they did 'use' weren't real by general consensus. Once or twice though...

"With luck that'll be years away though."

"I can give you a list." Dilan says with a shrug, "Braig has a handful who pass greater than 65% of the tests on a regular basis."

"No thanks" she lifted a hand to wave off the offer "We just try to be very careful with who we've managed not to scare off." she sighed.

"And I wouldn't want to sic people on unsuspected psychs by accident if the precinct boys found the list."

"Fair enough. You can give me a call, then, and I'll look them up if you need something." Dilan says cheerfully.

"We'll see" she agreed easily. It wasn't easy to find psychs that could work with cops, much less would. Especially on cases bad enough to stump the detectives...but that wasn't really an issue at the moment!

"So what doesn't your teams research end up looking into? Am I going to end up with helpful commentary no matter what topic we run into at work?" she teased, then gripped his hand a little more tightly as they hit a curved hill. Not a large one, luckily.

Dilan thinks about it for a while, "Weapons. We don't do weapons." His hands closes on hers as well, and he smiles down at her, "But other than that, probably."

"Well, at least we'll never run out of things to talk about." she laughed. "And I can use you as an idea bounce!!" she seemed...utterly delighted by the idea.

"Internet researches and book trawling only gets you so far when you run into the tougher cases. Really. The next time I need to know how nerve toxins work, I can ask!" she'd never offer him case details...but asking about subjects and specifics? She could do that!

His lips go from a smile to a full-on grin and with a quick lick of his lips Dilan says, "Aya, you may bounce anything you want off me."

Aya caught the grin out of the corner of her eyes, then chuckled softly. "Dilan, you may just come to regret giving me that permission." she noted.

He might.

"Optimists can be very scary people." she laughed, bumping him with her hip slightly. "But I admit you're good medicine, so I'm not going to be afraid?" she teased.

"I'm terrifying." Dilan agrees, "Rar. Grr. 'Scuse me." the last to someone he came far too close to bumping into.

"And polite" she noted cheerfully. "Terror in an incredibly agreeable package. No wonder you've managed to keep your true nature hidden so long..." she laughed.

"Oh...crap. Bicyclists!"

"Grass to the left." Dilan says, heading that way and tugging her with him. He falls, gracefully, on his ass and provides her with a soft place to land. Relatively soft, anyway, there's a lot of bone structure there as well. "So. Food?"

"Yeep!" yes, it was a small, bitten off sound. At least she didn't deck him? Nope, she just landed as gently as she could without rolling and looked up at him "Umm, yes? I take it you're hungry?"

Or hungry enough? She could totally get the backpack off yes!
