Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

"Sounds good to me." Dilan agreed, "I guess a lot of it depends on how much I take after my father instead of momma." it was wry, "Being the only half-breed, ever, means nobody knows what's going to happen with me."

"Really? Huh." Yeah, not really a bio nut this guy? "Yeah, that must suck a little. Still, you got height at least, which is awesome. Sign here and I'll get this faxed to our manufacturer!"

Which was fine by Dilan! He signed the form and said, "anything else?" prior to going and finding Aya.

Aya had managed to isolate a chunk of suits from the others by shoving things obviously not Dilan's size tight against the ends of each rack! And waqs reading over features pamphlets in case they'd missed a new surf board innovation or something and...

...yeah. Bored a bit. "Some guy has actually created a board with tunnels cut through it so it whistles on your car rack and 'moves better with teh current' when in the water." Aya offered with a laugh.

"Wow. And people pay money for that?" Dilan asked, paging through the shorts she found acceptable, "Oh, this one is awesome..." purple and white with big flowers all over!

[mitochondriaaya]

"Apparently they pay a lot for it," she eyed the price at the bottom of the pamphlet and shrugged. "The whistling surfboards should be tracked down and put out of their misery."

Oh, well, nothing like wearing flowers she guessed? She had promised not to veto loud prints..."Braig'll love it!"

"Sometimes the stupidity of people astounds me." Dilan said wryly, "Lets get these and then go over to Mick's! Mom and dad'll meet us there for dinner."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, too bad it's never really entertaining." Aya trotted back to the counter to pay and tucked the swim shorts in one of Dilan's bags so they didn't collect more. "Tomorrow we do dinner on the beach?"

"Sounds good." Dilan said, "This really did end up taking all day." Although at least she didn't go shopping crazy. He was worried about that!

Shopping wasn't a hormone or genetic thing! It really wasn't! "And no it didn't, just a few hours, we started late remember? And we're actually pretty much done right?"

"Yeah, but by the time mom and dad get here and we have food it'll be too late to swim." Dilan said with a bit of a sigh.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Not if we ask really nice for a late swim? My homework is caught up, chores don't need to be done I think? And my first class is actually study hall so no real need to be up early?" She held the door for him again before threading her hand in his dreads. It was like holding his hand when his hands were full!

"If we swim in the big cove there no fear of riptides you know, it's all calm and clean!"

"We'll see." Dilan said, "I'm a little worried about swimming...I'm shaped differently, and it'd probably be a good idea to wait until morning."

[mitochondriaaya]

"We can stick to the shallows and the moon is almost full?" Aya offered softly. "I like swimming with just you guys. There's people there during the day. You don't want to though and I won't push!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Okay. I may just wade, but okay." Dilan said, lifting a hand full of bags to ruffle her hair.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Wading is fine!" Aya laughed and ducked her head under the ruffling. "I like wading! You like wading, and if I tag and run you might not catch me!"

"That'll work, then." Dilan said, "Get the door?" Since the restaurant was right next door.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Got it! Table for four!" she informed the hostess. "Near a place to set bags?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Thanks." Dilan said with a sparkling smile for the hostess. They were guided to a good spot with plenty of room, where Dilan could see the door.

That hostess was going to remember that smile Dilan! Aya busied herself tucking bags safely under the table then flopped down next to Dilan. "So, plans for tomorrow yet?"

Yeah, he was going to cut swaths through the female population without realising it.

"Gonna go to the gym and start trying to build muscle mass again."

[mitochondriaaya]

And then he'd do it with complete cognizance! Terrifying wasn't it?

"Which gym? I can meet you there after school if you'll be there all day!" Or she could go home and grab food and bring it to him at the gym...

"Mornen's." Dilan said, "They've got the best weight set."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I can show up with chicken from the Tavern?" Aya suggested. "And you promise to be careful? Maybe get someone to coach?"

"Will do." Dilan promised, "I'll take it easy, I just...want to finish growing."
