Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

"They need to talk to us both!" Aya laughed and sat on a stool to cool her heels. "He wants hakima for pants, we'll negotiate on the rest though!"

The sales clerk grinned and jotted a few notes before waving to a chair. "Well, let me see what we have in stock! I'll be right back with some selections alright?"

"Okay." Dilan was easy, and the clerk was obviously looking forwards to a big commission.

It wasn't long before he had hakima (two pairs in store he could have more delivered within the week) and a selection of workout clothing and shirts. "Do you prefer the longer, draped shirts to go with hakima or standard shirts? We have both available!"

Aya grinned and shrugged. "Nothing too bright ,darker colors and jewel tones? But length is his call. Think we should get formal stuff too since there's bound to be some kind of fund raiser soon?"

"Longer stuff." Dilan said, "Otherwise it gets cold. Yeah, I'll need full formal kimono and stuff. Probably a tux, too."

Yeah the salesman was grinning in cheerful glee now. He liked being able to help, but the commission was also a great way to end the night! "Well, you'll want to try these on then while I find the longer shirts, and the formals we have some of. If we don't find a nice fit though we'll take more measurements and have your favored styles tailored."

"Oh, coats. He'll also need some new coats!" Aya chirped. "This is a lot easier than shopping at the mall..."

"Warmest coats you've got." Dilan agreed, heading for the changing room to start trying things on. Every piece of clothing had to be vetted by Aya, of course.

The few shirts she wasn't sure about she snapped pictures of on her phone and sent to Braig for final vote! "Synthetics or wool lined for the coat? Those are the choices so far but I think he's getting more...what are your ideas on PJs and longjohns?"

Braig texted back his choices out of those shirts within a few moments. "Wool, unless they have that super warm stuff the military uses. I don't wear PJs. You know that."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I know you don't!" she agreed cheerfully. "But you might if it was was going to get that cold so I asked!" She poked at the coats, trying to determine if they were high grade insulated coats or just fancy coats.

"Eh, poke them when you step out next? Also, Braig says that dark blue one and the one with full sleeves."

"That's what extra blankets are for." Dilan said, shaking his head. One of them was the ultra high-grade stuff, and it was helpfully in an okay colour (deep purple). One of the others was a black ankle-length wool one.

"Okay, got 'em." Dilan said, adding those to his pile.

"Good point." Blankets were always good! "Swim shorts here you think or save that for the surf shop?"

"We have a very limited selections of swim gear," the salesman admitted. "But the formals? Here?"

"Formals!" Dilan puttered about them for a while and then said, "I like the red one, can I wear red?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"It's got pretty embroidery but it's a brighter red than we usually see so we'll ask Braig!" Picture time pose pretty! "Oh, they can do the tux in different shades than black too. Unless you like black?"

"Black is standard for tuxes." Dilan said, "I'd look silly in a different colour...that's what kimono are for!"

"But you complain about them!" Aya laughed and pointed out a few tuxedo sets that had nice cuts. Those he should try on? "If you get the red one I'm getting a different kimono later so I can complement when we all wear formals!"

"I like the red one." Dilan said quietly, and Braig's return text said that he could get it, but he had to get plain underthings to go with it.

Dilan tried on the tuxes, saying; "I look like a thug, Aya."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Cream under robe for the kimono!" Aya crowed, showing Dilan the text. "And the red is nice! It just means I need something less white when I'm in kimono too!" What?

"Open up, let me see! It can't be that bad!"

Dilan opened the stall to show her and...did look rather thuggish, yes. Yup.

"No longer my style."

[mitochondriaaya]

Aya reached up to pet his cheek gently while trying to figure out how to fix it. "Switch from black to dark grey, and a less angular cut? We'll try that!" Not because he really looked like a thug but because he looked uncomfortable!

"And you always hated wearing a tux!"

"We can give it a try." Dilan said, retreating to do so, "And I know, but sometimes I've got to."

[mitochondriaaya]

"We've got all night!" Aya pointed out. "We'll find something you like, or at least are comfortable in!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Not all night! This nice man wants to go home too, Aya!" Dilan said, shaking his head, "If we don't find something by closing we'll come back tomorrow for the rest of it."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Oh, right, we can do it that way too," Aya laughed. "Hmmm, the dark grey is a lot better, it's softer, see?" She turned him toward the mirror and hugged him around the waist.

"Yeah, I guess so." Dilan agreed, twisting to look at himself from other angles, "This one'll do."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Ack, yeeeep!" She was hugging his waist when he twisted THANK YOU VERY MUCH! And half the angles had an Aya in them! "I"ll get myself sewed to them forthwith!" Also? Currently in the Shakespeare section in English!
