The bar brawl was magnificent. It spread from the original bar (Dilan isn't sure which one that was) to three or four others, going in and out of them into something not quite a riot but not exactly not. Dilan got involved in the second bar on the trip, but managed to hold his own until the cops got there.

And he very politely sat down with his hands behind his head waiting for them to get around to him. Someone with that much facial metal (eyebrow, lip, nose), that hair, and that size tends to ping the combatant radar of everyone. Ever.

"Yep, it does sound like you've got the zen thing pegged." she admitted, flashing a smile up at him. "I know an instructor who'd cry if he met you. He swears up and down no American can even approach a Zen state..." then again, said instructor really dealt with the lower end of society, so...

"Hey, Dilan?" she asked, drawing her fingers back from the quilts "Are there any particular fabric combinations you can't handle?" she didn't want to drape something on her couch if it was going to set a guests teeth on edge...

"If it helps, my father was from the other continent." Dilan points out, shrugging. He think looks over everything, "I don't like corduroy much, the sound of it gets stuck in my head and I hear the whish-whish-whish for hours. Other than that I'm cool."

"No, I'm pretty sure you're still American in his eyes, but it might be a mild consolation?" she chuckled.

Right, well, the 'no corduroy' thing narrowed her choices further. She settled for a heavy, heavy blanket in baby blue and white. It took her a moment to fill out the necessary delivery info, but not overly long? "It's going on my couch." she explained to Dilan over her shoulder "Public location number one in my place. Didn't want it to bother you."

Dilan just beams at that, "Cool. I look forward to it. Looks like things are clear up ahead, want to strap on skates?"

"Eh, one thing you'll learn since I've managed not to send you screaming yet? Most of my spare time is spent at home. So, I have to import people I want to spend time with." she admitted with a grin.

"It's what we're here for..." and there was actually a clear bench for lacing up! "Wasn't joking about not skating since middle school though. Bear with me?"

"No worries." Dilan says again, "I don't bring people home much because I share the flat with Braig, and he's a slob."

By slob Dilan means doesn't tend to put books in alpha order after reading them.

"Hmmm, one reason I don't share my apartment." she admitted. "Got my fill of that in college thank you." she was...a very private person. Everyone she didn't know or trust were simply kept out.

Anyone allowed into her life though? Well, that was a different story.

"And if I do have movie nights and the like, the boys know to clean up or I'll skin them."

"I'm afraid I can get rather unreasonable if I live alone." Dilan admits, "The OCD gets out of control if someone isn't there to drag me back."

"Anyone can" she agreed lightly "OCD or no. As long as you get to figure things out so they work for you though, it's alright. I've kind of weighed the price of not living alone against the bad moments of doing so...and made sure that a nine year old has the key to my place and the right to bother me." she admitted.

"How often do you have to be 'dragged'?" she asked, finally getting her skates laced and her feet back on the ground.

"Depends on the situation. The more stressed I am, the worse it gets. Usually not more than once every couple of months. I just don't do well alone."

He stands up and tests his skates out, making sure they're on comfortably, and skating a small circle.

"I can respect that." more the fact that he admitted he needed people than anything else. She dealt with people notorious for the 'I'm okay' response. Hell, she was one of them. "How do define a situation you need to be removed from...or is it obvious?"

It took her a moment to re-acclimate to wheels on her feet, but muscle memory was a wonderful thing. It was like riding a bike actually. Soon she was skating in slow circles just opposite Dilan...and occasionally scuffing her brakes to break them in.

"If I've got a protractor out near the bookshelf, stop me. Ditto if there is blood in the sink while washing my hands. It's pretty obvious." Dilan just came to terms with it. He's a people person.

He grins as she gets used to it and starts leisurely down the path. "I love the park."

"Ouch" she noted as she glided beside him. "Well, obvious is good. You kind of get used to ignoring subtle trouble signs sometimes..." she noted quietly.

"Hmmm, we used to run through here. All of us in training. It was one of the better courses." she agreed. "And you got to see people!"

"I do the same, sometimes, but I prefer it at dusk. It's a safe time for someone like me, but not for smaller people or human people so it's not crowded."

"I don't like running with a piece." she sighed "And you're right, I'm kind of a target once darkness starts to fall around here if I'm not carrying." even if she was, but, it was easier to get herself out then.

"I stick to the gym now that I don't have the giant group to run with."

"Pretty much, yeah." Dilan agrees, "Whereas I have the big, dark, not human, enough metal to give an airport attendant a nervous twitch thing going for me. And the colour scheme helps with that."

She laughed at that, skating just far enough away to give him a thorough, and obvious, once over. "Yes, you're terrifying material Dilan." she noted. "In a good way though."

"I pity anyone manning a metal detector near you though."

"Oh, yeah. I'm a scary man. Rar. Meer." Xaldin makes claws at her, and crosses his eyes.

"I forgot a couple of them once and that was really embarrassing."

"Only to those intimidated by height." she laughed, then almost tripped as she took her attention off skating. "Meer?"

"I can imagine. It's bad enough forgetting to drop your keys in the damn baskets..."

"It's the sound Cat makes when she's hungry." Dilan explains, pitching his voice into an uncanny imitation of a hungry cat; "Meer, meer, meer, meer, meer, meer."

"Cats actually make that noise?!" she was...well, impressed wasn't the right word. Giggly maybe? "It sounds like something out of a cartoon." she admitted.

"Hmmm, the bystanders are starting to think I never feed you..."

Dilan grins at her and helpfully says, "Meer!" before laughing, "If you want I'll introduce you to Cat. She's leash trained."

She blinked at that "...I was under he impression a cat would take your arm off if you leashed them." she noted. "That's just...really weird Dilan." cats and leashes?

Ummm.

"Sure?"

"Cat is really laid back." Dilan says cheerfully, "To the point where if she's trying to swallow something bad for her I can get away with shaking her by the back legs until it falls out of her mouth."

"Are you sure she's a cat and not a pillow with an appetite?" she countered with a chuckle.

"I have never, ever heard a cat described that way. A lot of the precinct guys own cats...." she shrugged "And laid back for them tends to be 'enjoys playing more than eating my fingers'..."
