Braig was out of the room when Dilan peeked back in, finally. He grabbed the bag, which over the course of packing had taken on capital letters; The Bag. It had the G-strings with their fake fig leaves, the apples, Aya's clear bra, and the container that held one comfortably dozing snake.

Dilan had checked, it was fine to keep the snake curled up in there for the couple of hours it had taken...and he'd checked on it every time they stopped. Still a very large snake. Very large. He poked the remaining lump in the bed, "Aya! He's out!"

He dropped her share of stuff on the bed and started stripping with absolutely no regard for modesty. Not that he'd ever had any. The usual array of noises that occurred after every waxing were made, along with giggles. (Manly giggles.)

"It's like ponytail Dilan! Just...tiny ponytail!" She laughed and climbed up on the bed behind him, being careful to not tweak his ears too much when separating out which dreads should go in said itty-tail. "...we didn't figure out something to hold them with before I grabbed your hair." He could imagine the sound of a facepalm couldn't he?

"Bah." He couldn't help the shiver and twitch at the touches on his ears, even knowing it meant nothing. Biology said shiver and twitch, he shivered and twitched. There was a blink, then he pointed at the bag, "Might be something left in there? I grabbed stuff at random, Braig was coming."

The snake, currently draped on Dilan's warm chest, ignored them. Waarm.

"Hand!" she commanded, holding out her free hand for his. The better to make him hold his hair while she went digging!

"This isn't science random right? Remember when you ended up with the test tubes and forty or so stoppers in different sizes? That won't help."

He put his hand in hers, then gripped the hair while she dug around. "This isn't science random, it's from my pathetic attempts at art. You remember, I tried building dioramas."

Construction he can do. Tiny construction? He becomes all thumbs.

"Ah, right, well at least that isn't trying to cork your hair?" She grinned and fished in bags some more, already moving like she was comfortable in what she was wearing.

Granted, she probably was. She was about as dressed as a nice bikini after all.

"Hmmm, some hemp? No ivy, not using the twine, or the wire....mini menorah. Okaaaaay." Yeah, those poor dioramas. "Hey, little grape vines! With little grapes! Ready to be the symbol of more prosperity and all?"

"Works for me." Dilan said easily, "Just be prepared to defend the hair thingies, because people grab for them when I use stuff other than more dreads."

He does not get the attraction for his hair thingies.

"I will glare. It is not polite to walk off with bits of peoples costumes after all." And she might bite. She was working to get mini-grapes to be useful after all and she did not appreciate her work being undone!

"Hah, there! Shake your head, see if it holds?"

Dilan shook his head obediently, and it all held. "Okay! Ready to go out?" beam beam...also he draped the snake around her neck and shoulders, "Okay, this is Inky. I don't know why it's name is Inky, but it is. I'm informed that if we lose Inky, we also lose our left arms. I'm left handed, so don't lose Inky."

"Hello Inky, a pleasure to meet you." Aya beamed at the snake on her shoulders. She'd spent too much time at the zoo with the boys to shy away from snakes! "I will not lose Inky, I swear on my other, non-threatened limbs."

That said she scooped up the small basket full of apples and set it on her hip, posing for a moment as a matter of course, then grinned. "You get the bushel, I'll get the door!" And elements help anyone in the hall!

"Awesome." Dilan picked up the bushel and, when Aya opened the door, stepped through.

The usual hustle and bustle of the convention hallway paused until Aya stepped out as well, then there was a long, low whistle from someone followed by wild applause.

She slipped into the hallway behind Dilan and tucked their room key under a bra strap on her back shoulder. The hair would hide it nicely in theory. That done she shifted a guileless blue gaze over the crowd, leaned toward Dilan and smiled.

It wasn't her normal smile. She found the applause was making almost blush...so she channeled that into a sly lip curve that no doubt would get her in trouble later. For now though she was perfectly safe, utterly amused, and more than willing to sway down the hall after everyone got a good look.

She assumed, and conveyed in body language, that people would clear a path to the elevator down. Nothing like having a kickass costume, a very large snake, and a katzu at her back to give a girl the simple confidence needed to pull it off!

Dilan stalked with her, tossing apples here and there at highly appreciative looks. He was blushing, although only Aya would know to look for the darkening of his ears.

The path did clear, and while there were some twitchy hands not one of them actually moved enough that Dilan took it as a threat.

Aya was totally, and happily in character, though not passing out apples yet. Those were for the convention halls themselves, not the hotel halls. She made it all the way to the elevator doors, pausing before the silver surface and watching the dancing reflections instead of turning to face the crowd. She'd blush.

Nope, cool, calm facade until it was her and Dilan in the elevator...

...then hysterical giggling and she thunked her forehead against the wall.

The snake she kept carefully away from the chill metal though.

Dilan grinned and draped an arm over her shoulder while she giggled, chortling happily, "This was a good idea." he informed her, "I had a good idea."

"You had the best idea." she agreed. "That's what I have genius boys like you for!" For the good ideas and fun times!

"Now, I just need to manage not to collapse in giggles while we're on the floor...and laugh myself hoarse when we're in our rooms again tonight. Easy right?"

"Right. Also are we dodging Braig, or just letting the chips fall as they may?"

Ding said the elevator, cheerfully, letting them out onto the convention hall floor.

[mitochondriaaya]

"I think, in character, dodging is beneath our dignity? What's the worst that could happen? Braig glares until the fire alarms go off, everyone gets to break character anyway?" Because, well, she totally believed Braig could set off fire alarms by the heat of his ire alone.

"And then we run, comes to that." In case he hadn't picked up on that part.

"I have no dignity." Dilan pointed out, "I'm too much of a dork."

Meanwhile, as the crowd hushed and turned and wolf-whistles began, Braig's "Aya and Dilan" senses went off. And, right there next to Pierce, he turned red, purple, white, and then faintly green.

"Gak."

"That is why you cosplay. You get to borrow some." Aya grinned as they hit the floor, then started, naturally, tempting. Terran apples were grown in the home soil of terra firma after all.

Pierce had been eying a display of geek shirts, and nodded at the noise. "Oh yeah, that stuff was fun. Like meltier silly putty and...you're not looking at a display. You're white. I didn't know tan guys get get that pale." He waved a hand in front of Braig's face.

Dilan stopped to pose for a picture, then grinned at Aya and hefted her to his shoulder for a different pose. What is the point of being the big, strong guy if you can't lift your partner up?

"Engh. It. They!" he grabbed Pierce by the head and turned it until he could see Aya and Dilan...then started pounding his head against the taller man's back.

Aya grinned and stayed still while he was lifting. No use upsetting the balance of things right? Right. It also meant she could cross her ankles primly once she was on his shoulder and beam at all and sundry.

All and sundry nearby. She managed to miss Pierce.

What the...hey, ow, attached and...whoa." Was that close to amused awe? That WAS close to amused awe. "Way to go guys!" You know, except for the head thunking thing.

"They didn't tell you huh? Or you're suppose to be there too and they started early?"

Dilan looked up at Aya, "I bet I could hold you on my hand, if you want to try it." His hand is big enough, and her feet are small enough.

His voice was very quiet, too quiet, and filled with...jealousy? Outrage? Hurt? All of the above? "They didn't tell me. They're ... oh, Wind and Void."

"Maybe later, once we're out of apples? Don't want people making grabby hands while we're having to be careful." She leaned forward from Dilan's shoulder, hair draping forward as she passed one of the larger apples to the first person to get up the gumption to come forward.

"Dude?" What? Whhhat? "Don't worry, they've got it in hand. They're awesome." He patted Braig's shoulder a little awkwardly.

"What's wrong? Should I get them towels or something?" Or, you know, keep an eye on the creepy looking set who'd caught wind of the pair?

Dilan nodded and held still so that Aya could bend and move without fear of falling. He was a rock!

His head also snapped towards the creepy looking set and Braig was moving...not just moving. Braig was standing up straight and moving towards them.

He was a rock! And the bending got enough clapping that Aya had to straighten and wrap her hand in Dilan's hair for a moment. Yep, blushing. A little. COMPOSURE anchor Dilan was!

"Oh, oh dude, NO!" There was security at cons! Security was suppose to handle creepy things! "They're not even, okay, they are headed that way but..." Yeah, he missed the grab for Braig's arms.

"DOWN BOY!"
