Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

He headed over there and then started looking over the boots, "I just want something warm and plain. Nothing fancy, no buckles or anything like that."

"Wood running capable or stuffed full of liner warm?" she asked after looking over the selection. "This lace up set looks like it can handle stomping along on hunts, but the slip on and zips have sheepskin inside..."

"Hmmm." He looked over both pairs, "Lets try them on...I might get both."

She held up a foot measure so he could figure out what size he needed, then started digging through boot sets to get past the 'obviously not the right size' ones. "Both can't hurt! And maybe some slippers for wearing in the flat? How cold does it get on campus?"

"Pretty cold." He admitted, measuring his foot and giving her the number. "Slippers would be a good idea...some of those sheepskin lined ones."

[mitochondriaaya]

She passed him two sets of boots to try on once she had a number, then went bopping off to find slippers. "They have pull on booty types that go up the calf instead of just slip ons!" VICTORY!

"Awesome! Get a pair for Braig, too, his are falling apart." Dilan ordered, trying on the first set of boots and taking a few steps in them.

[mitochondriaaya]

"He's a dork! He's suppose to keep an eye on his stuff!" She grabbed a set in Braig's size and brought Dilan's back to him through the aisles. "Should I get a cart?"

"He's Braig." Dilan pointed out, "He's lazy about that kind of stuff. Yeah, go ahead and get a cart. We can pick up scarves here, too. Maybe socks."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Lazy about his clothing but vain. How does that work even?" she laughed and bopped off for a cart, wheeling back with it like a scooter as a matter of course. "Maybe a hat too! A big floppy hat with ear flaps for you!"

"It's a mystery." Dilan said, sighing and shaking his head, "No, ear-flaps fold my ears down funny. It's uncomfortable."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Okay, no hat, you'll just need a scarf big enough to wrap up to your ears!" She could find one of those! Possibly get eaten by one of those even..."How are the boots?"

"They feel good. We'll want to get some arch supports, heavy duty ones, but we can do that."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, we can find some temporary ones at a drug store and order some good ones from a podiatrist?" Because when it would help they invested in quality! "Toss them in the cart. Socks are the aisle behind you!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, remind me to make an appointment when we get home." Dilan said, tossing everything in the cart. "Black socks. Plain black socks." Only Braig got him ugly socks.

He wore them, though.

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'm sure they have socks. You grab a package and I'll call mom, see if she can get you an appointment while we're out doing this." Because Elcy would want to do something?

"Oh, hey. Good idea." He nodded and grabbed a couple of packages of socks.

[mitochondriaaya]

"I can think sometimes!" Aya laughed and dialed Elcy on her cell, requesting a podiatrist appointment. She'd know who to contact for katzu foot needs!" "Mom says hi and don't forget to pick up more hair care stuff cause you're almost out of wax!"

"Right. We can get that back at home, though, we don't need to pay mall prices for it." Dilan said, shaking his head."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, and we don't want to sit around while people have dread envy either." It was a risk when going to public places to buy hair stuff! "I know you're awesome but there is a screening process for who's allowed to touch your hair!"

"Betcha nobody comes up and touches without asking any more." Dilan said, "I'm a freaking giant."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I dunno, pretty hair is hypnotic!" Aya pointed out. Or at least that was the way it seemed to her given how people's hands gravitated towards her boys. "Granted, Braig loves it. But I remember the peanut butter in your hair!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, I do not want to have to shave my head again. I've had the dreads way too long." He said with a shudder, "Still. There'll be new boundaries now that I'm not tiny."

[mitochondriaaya]

"No, no shaving your head again. We'll find another way." There had to be some science magic that could take peanut butter out of hair! "Eh, I don't boundaries will change that much? Mine haven't?"

"I mean with regards to strangers." Dilan said, "It'd be weird if you stopped touching me."
