Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

"You saying you can't run for life with a couple of bags?" she chuckled and pulled the stop cord before wiggling out of his lap to grab their snack bags back up. "We obviously need to watch more horror."

"I'm saying that right now if I took off running it'd cause a panic."

[mitochondriaaya]

"No it wouldn't," she snorted. "Because I'd be right behind you laughing like a maniac and they'll just assume you're trying to ditch the crazy girl."

"I don't know that they'd even notice." Dilan said, wrinkling his nose again.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Dilan, you're not a monster, you're not scary, you're just a tall guy now instead of a short one. If we were chasing each other down the street people would just call us dorks and move on." She reached for his hand with her free one and started tugging him toward the front of the bus. "And we are dorks you know. Utter dorks."

"I'm seven feet tall." Dilan said, "Minus the knot of dreads."

[mitochondriaaya]

"And it's awesome!" Aya pointed out when they got off the bus. "You're still a dork, you just have enough lap for me to sit in properly now!"

"Mmph." He liked being the cuddle-y rather than the cuddle-er. He wasn't going to say that, though. "C'mon."

[mitochondriaaya]

Yeah, well, she'd still do her best to cuddle him? "I'm coming, I"m coming! What do we aim for first?"

"Pants are easy, I want hakama. Shirts, socks, boots...sweaters..."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Coat, wet suit, workout clothing, probably a set of sneakers as well as boots, thermal underwear for the winter at college..." yeah, a lot of stuff. "Look around, see what store we spot first?"

Dilan nodded, and then peeled off towards one of the department stores, "Next question...will they have anything my size, or do we have to go find a specialty store?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"Eh, well, if we have to go hunt a specialty store then we can justify a nice dinner out too!" Though she'd prefer eating on the beach honestly. She was a fan of tide pool dining. "And shoes shouldn't be a problem at least? Your feet are still tiny."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, I know." He looked at his feet with disgust, "They're gonna hurt so much, carrying this monolith of a body around."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'll rub your feet!" she promised simply. "And I bet Braig will too. And we'll get you good boots with arch support!" At the...women's section of the department store yep. "Men...is way that way maybe?"

"Yeah, that way." He could see the signs! Eeeesh.

[mitochondriaaya]

Seeing signs was handy! "Well, come on then! Sooner we get shopping the sooner we can go swimming!" She lifted his hand to her shoulder and started off toward 'that way'.

He headed over there and then started looking over the boots, "I just want something warm and plain. Nothing fancy, no buckles or anything like that."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Wood running capable or stuffed full of liner warm?" she asked after looking over the selection. "This lace up set looks like it can handle stomping along on hunts, but the slip on and zips have sheepskin inside..."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Hmmm." He looked over both pairs, "Lets try them on...I might get both."

[mitochondriaaya]

She held up a foot measure so he could figure out what size he needed, then started digging through boot sets to get past the 'obviously not the right size' ones. "Both can't hurt! And maybe some slippers for wearing in the flat? How cold does it get on campus?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Pretty cold." He admitted, measuring his foot and giving her the number. "Slippers would be a good idea...some of those sheepskin lined ones."

[mitochondriaaya]

She passed him two sets of boots to try on once she had a number, then went bopping off to find slippers. "They have pull on booty types that go up the calf instead of just slip ons!" VICTORY!

[sliceitwithwind]

"Awesome! Get a pair for Braig, too, his are falling apart." Dilan ordered, trying on the first set of boots and taking a few steps in them.

[mitochondriaaya]

"He's a dork! He's suppose to keep an eye on his stuff!" She grabbed a set in Braig's size and brought Dilan's back to him through the aisles. "Should I get a cart?"
