Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

"Yeah, seriously." He hugged Aya a bit, "It'll be okay, you know?"

"I know. Everything goes weird when people grow up, then it gets better apparently." She snorted and snuggled under his arm. "Got any plans for being an adult?"

"Gonna do science until I'm dead." Dilan said cheerfully, "And regularly donate sperm to the sperm banks in hopes of helping my people expand."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'm going to be a cop!" she informed him. "Here. Keep home safe for you guys while you do science stuff."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Are you sure you don't want to go see the world before you settle down?" he asked.

[mitochondriaaya]

"I've seen a lot of it! And I'll see more in college when I go there, but I'll work here." She stuck her tongue out at him then glanced out the window. "Okay, back there like five miles. We're outside our town now."

"Okay." Dilan said, leaning on her, and then up again when his heavier bodyweight slid them over, "Sorry, did I squish you?"

[mitochondriaaya]

She laughed and braced her legs so she could push him over the other way. "I don't squish easy Dilan! You know that!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, but I weigh like a billion pounds now." Dilan pointed out.

[mitochondriaaya]

"You do not weigh a billion pounds!" Aya poked his side and climbed up into his lap since pushing him over didn't work so well. "And I still don't squish easy! Do you think Sannish will teach you how to toss lions if we ask nice?"

"Probably." he said, perking up a bit, "That'd be fun."

[mitochondriaaya]

"We don't have any plans for this summer yet right? You guys aren't taking summer classes? We could go to the territories!" It'd be fun! And Dilan could hear other growing stories! "But you could totally toss a lion now!"

"Maybe we could." Dilan agreed, "I don't know if we'll be taking classes or not, it depends on me passing everything this semester."

[mitochondriaaya]

"You can do that!" Aya pointed out. "This is required sciences this semester right?" And he was so far beyond that it was funny! "We can ask when we write, see if they'd mind."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, still, I don't want to make assumptions."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'll make them then!" Aya offered cheerfully. "I know you're a genius after all!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Fair enough." he said, wrinkling his nose.

[mitochondriaaya]

That meant she had to poke his nose obviously! "I have a great deal of faith in you."

[sliceitwithwind]

"I know." Dilan said, "Sometimes it's kind of overwhelming."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'm overwhelming?" she blinked, trying to wrap her mind around that. "You guys have never let me down so how is it overwhelming?!"

"I worry what'll happen the first time I do let you down!"

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'll feel like a dork for pushing too hard and hope you didn't break anything because that sucks?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"I love you, monkey." What else could he say? Really? He was totally going to let her down someday and she'd hate him forever.

[mitochondriaaya]

He was never going to let her down! She expected them to be awesome people and people could make mistakes and stuff! And she could never hate him! She just wasn't wired like that! "Love you too kitten! I'll try not to intimidating and stuff?"

"Thanks, I appreciate that." He said, "Oh, hey, is this our stop?"
