Kiddie AU - Post growth spurt

It'd been a week, but Dilan...was nowhere near used to his new size. He kept banging into walls, doors, low hanging objects. Anything dangling from the ceiling, and he kept forgetting how wide his shoulders were as well. It was driving him insane.

Not to mention the fears that his size and new, distinct lack of "cuteness" meant that he was hideous looking. He wasn't ready to go back to college, not while still recovering from the agony of the growth spurt, so he was curled up at home trying to get used to himself. Braig had needed to go back and pick school work up for the two of them, trusting that Aya would take care of Dilan until he got back.

Dilan was curled up on the back porch with a couple of blankets and a book. And a protein shake the size of a monster slurpee cup.

"'Bout ten minutes." Dilan said, digging into the milk right away, "And we're getting return tickets later. You know, just in case we go crazy and end up having to call mom for a ride."

"We'll try not to go crazy!" Aya laughed. "Because mom won't let us go swimming that late." She was in that interim phase of sometimes calling Elcy mom and sometimes calling her Elcy. Her brain was weird!

"Hey, you'll need new shoes too. You can't do flip-flops at college really, especially in the rain or winter."

"You never know..." Dilan said, "You're a teenager now, you might end up going into one of those girly-shopping spurts. I want boots. I like boots."

She leaned forward enough to get a good stare going. Staring only worked if you could see more than a chunk of someone's face! STAAAAAAAAARE!

Then she punched his shoulder.

"I AM NOT GIRLY! We can find boots."

"I don't know! It could be a chemical thing! You might, like, see the clothing and go insane!" It made sense to him!

"THAT IS SO UNSCIENTIFIC YOU DORK!" Really, had he ever encountered a pheromone or something specifically laced into new clothing to make girls react?! "AND WHAT IF YOU GO CRAZY BECAUSE OF THE CLOTHING HUH?!"

"Stop yelling! You're making everyone stare. Even more." Dilan said, hunching his shoulders. So. Embarrassing.

[mitochondriaaya]

She snapped her mouth shut on further yelling and glared around, more because he hunched than because he asked. She didn't like him feeling vulnerable! "You were being insulting." she stated once she had a handle on her volume level. "I'm sorry I yelled. They're not staring at you."

"Fine, fine." Dilan kept hunching, "I'm sorry, then. Geesh."

[mitochondriaaya]

She sighed and curled forward enough to seem like she was...trying to shelter the man whose lap she was sitting in. It could help? As could the petting maybe? "Relax, it's okay. It's alright kitten. C'mon..."

"I'm freaky enough right now." Dilan mumbled into her shoulder, "I don't want even more people staring."

[mitochondriaaya]

"You're not freaky," she stated firmly. "You're not. You look exactly like a young hunter before bulking up. Tall and thinner now than you will be later but normal."

"I look bizarre next to all the humans and Olia around here." Dilan said flatly.

[mitochondriaaya]

"No you don't. You look tall. And I love you like this. You're suppose to grow you know and staying small wouldn't have been good for you!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"I was a short freak, now I'm a huge freak, and everyone is staring." Not everyone, just a couple of people who hadn't heard that he'd grown.

[mitochondriaaya]

"You are not a freak. You are my Dian and you are wonderful so stop hating yourself." Because she couldn't handle him hating himself! "No one thinks you're a freak." She was probably going to get in bloody fist fights at school if the group teasing and tormenting her latched onto the term though.

Dilan just shrugged, "Bus is here." he said, ending the conversation. He was a freeeeeeeak.

He was not! He was not and if he said it again she'd bite him! Probably at any rate. She shot him a look that promised the conversation wasn't over then slipped from his lap to gather up the snack bags again. "You pick the seats!" And pass tickets since her hands were full!

He passed over the tickets, and then found a seat where they could have enough room for his shoulders and her, too. "Pass another milk?"

[mitochondriaaya]

She cuddled against him happily in the seat and dug out another milk as a matter of course. "We may have to go to a mall. There's a lot you need for a whole wardrobe and a mall will have everything nearby." But it'd be full of people and pointless stuff as well. Ugh.

"Oh, we could look at the movie posters and see if any good ones are coming soon though!"

"At least it's the middle of the week so there won't be as many people there." Dilan said with a sigh, "Sure, we could look at films."

[mitochondriaaya]

"And not a holiday so we won't get trampled," she agreed. "I can't remember if any katzu films are coming out! Those would be fun but I think we missed the mummy one we last saw a preview for..."

[sliceitwithwind]

"We'll see." Dilan said, shrugging, "I wasn't that blown away by the mummy preview."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Which is why we didn't put it on the calender." Aya admitted with a grin. "But you know all the katzu movie previews en up on the katzu movies so...no clue what's coming!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"yeah. Clothing first, though. I gotta go back to school next week."
